Checkmate bows?

We really appreciate the good word!  Well, I do at least--doubt Marc has had time to check it out yet.

Kev, some of my favorite relatives are Yankees!  It's just such a dang long way there from here.  I think it would be shorter if you would come down to some of our shoots!

I've had several of their bows - started with a Falcon deluxe and settled with 2 "saders (one TD, one one piece). Great bows and these folks (Chad and Marc) are a treat to deal with. Oh yes, the strings are awesome too!!

Hey, we took a trip down south to hunt hogs in February.  We met up with one particular boar and one particular alligator that didn't really want us there.  Those boys obviously didn't get the memo on "southern hospitality."

Dang........wish I could--never been to an official IBO shoot.  Gas just hit over $3 a gallon here, so it's not likely.  Hope to make a shoot or two in MI next year--been wanting to do Comptons and the GLLI for a long time--maybe next year.....

Chek Mates are one of the top bows available at any price.  Just so happens a guy can get one  for about 30% or so less than most any other custom or semi-custom out there...

I have owned two TD recurves--I have pretty large hands and the grips are too much for me.  I sold both bows.  That said they are fine bows and I know many peole love them which is obvious from the above posts, but unless you like a big hand full of riser (which is deep front to back) you may want to try before you buy....Dave

I've owned and shot a few Chek-Mate's, really liked the Crusader.  Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sweet longbow. Actually, I really like all their bows and the people involved in making/selling them.  

My only distraction is the grip thing on the recurves.  I'd order a Hunter I right now if I could be assured the grip was reasonable....
What is it the biker guys say?......

I have a CM Falcon recurve.  It's a fine bow, but I regret buying it, as the grip is very fat for my small hands, and it doesn't shoot well for me.  It shoots very well for my brother and cousin though - both of whom have larger hands - so I know it's not the bow.  My advice if you have small hands is definitely "try before you buy".

Hate to say I just sold my 56" Hunter I...but bought 2 more.  Falcon deluxe (love it)in bubinga/purpleheart and a longer and heavier 60" Hunter I in in cocobola with yew limbs - still tuning it and trying to find arrows I like.
