I've never bought a hunting video, but if I ever do, I'd like it to follow just 1 or 2 hunts. None of the "28 kill shots" that I've seen advertised. Hap

Families hunting together.

I don't want to see vidoes of you in bib overalls without a shirt on. Just brings back thoughts of the movie Deliverance.  :)

I don't think I can improve on all the sugestions here. I agree with them all. The films that I really like are about the hunt, the whole hunt. From choosing a destination and setting up camp to packing meat and sharing the spoils over a campfire.

If the video has some primadonna not willing to get a little blood or dirt on his custom embroidered sponser shirt, I wont watch!
A peculiar virtue in wildlife ethics is that the hunter has no gallery to applaud or disaprove of his conduct.    Aldo Leupold

Many of teh older films are exactly what is being decribed here. Little if any music, the sounds of the wind, bloodtrails, a reason why the blind/stand was placed where it was. etc...
Bowhunting...protect it, preserve it, pass it on!

Since I didn't opt for the digi box for my older TV, I watch a LOT of videos. I enjoy most of the Primos stuff...

As for the high fives... if you listen to them describe the situation, I think it's a bit more understandable: hunting hard for 8 days, difficulty getting 2 stands, cameras, gear up a tree, moving frequently, getting busted or just being in the wrong tree...and it finally, finally comes together. I can relate to some of that...where it goes on and on and you're sure you're jinxed and them:BAM! It happens... emotions are real and raw at a moment like that.

I'd rather see some exhuberance than the dead pan stuff of Marlin Perkins in "Wild Kingdom" era with his non-emotive, "The bear is chewing on my foot...this is painful...and dangerous" commentary.   :knothead:

It still sometimes challenges me in a new woods, figuring out just what a pinch-point, funnel, edge looks like the "right way."

I know what it means to me, but then I'm never 100% certain. Someone said it before several times... the 'Why?'of a set up. I think many of them say all that stuff, but it's because the "outfitter/guide" told them.."hunt there!" That doesn't help me...  :)

I know I've seen one or 2 vids over the years that tried to show the "scounting and picking locations". On film, it sucked. Just can't put it all on tape even w/a wide angle lens... so that is a huge challenge!
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

There are three main types of videos INSTRUCTIONAL, where your trying to teach someone YOUR method of shooting ( and usualy selling some service pr product with it ) They are done to death and I dont think they are worth the effort .
HUNTING  lots of good ideas there > MY self my two sons and most of the guys in my camp,( Bradford County ) hunt from the ground Id love to see more ground hunting   that inclodes a lot of small game.
INFORMAL AND FUN TYPE Get to the PA BOW HUNTERS FESTIVAL , DENTON HILL , talk to bowyers there and shooters there interviews and shots of shooting at those type places   PA LONG BOW shooters shoot in Early june this year would have been ideal.  Lots of diversity in bows and equipment  some good old timers to talk to some very interesting shots  etc

How many of you would want to watch a reality tv style dvd where they follow the hunter through the whole process and in the end he's eating tag soup?
They would probably not sell enough to cover the production costs.  It is frustrating when those seasons actually happen to us, I'm not sure if I would really want to pay to watch someone else go through it.  I find it more entertaining when it finally comes together and they show or describe how hard it was.

Thats what made Tred Barta's show great!

It's not always the kill that makes the hunt.

I can tell you what I don't want to see:
Acting like an idiot after shooting an animal and yelling stupid things like "I smoked him baby!" and "BBD!".  Making a poor shot and then telling everyone on camera that you made a good shot.  Explaining the importance of letting small/young bucks walk so they can grow into big bucks and then shooting one at the end of the hunt so you have kill shot footage.  Telling people if they wear/use your product you can "forget the wind".  Dumping a pail of "C'Mere Deer" on the ground and then announcing you are ready.  High fencing showing in the background as you get ready to shoot the big one.  Think that about covers it for now!

How about an interview of 3-Rivers VP of Operations T. Williams, she could give a tour of the building, or at least footage of her shooting her longbow on a big game hunt?
