FF & Root bow?
« on: August 31, 2010, 06:24:00 PM »
So I know this bow was not made for it but has anyone shot a old Root Brushmaster with FF strings.  It has what looks like phenolic backed limbs and several layers of laminated wood reinforecement behind that on the tips but I dont know if they are cut right or if the reinforcement is enough.  So any first hand experiences with these bows?
Thanks Brian

I've never owned a Root, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say a definite "NO".

I think you'll eventually be holding those phenolic looking tips in your hand if you do.

I have a Brush-Master (along with several other Root bows) and wouldn't think of using FF on it. Dacron only.

I myself am not comfortable with shooting a FF type string on my older bows.I like to spin up an endless dacron for my older bows.Have you tried to new B55,less stretch then B50 and safe for all bows. You may get by with it but then you may not.

Thanks. That is what I thought, but just wanted to ask.  I am trying to get all I can out of it.  Who on here sells B55 strings?
