Teen age daughters!!!! Into the strangest stuff I tell ya...
« on: September 01, 2010, 11:36:00 PM »
Boy, kids these days!  What can ya do?  Girls hit about 13 and all of a sudden get a mind of their own, get into their own hobbies, start asking if they can dye their hair, sometimes doing it first and asking permission later...  Ooooiii!

Then they go and hit about 15 and want to run off with their friends all the time.  I had my daughter shooting a little recurve when she was 2 1/2 years old.  Going deer hunting with me when she was about 5 and shot her first doe with a rifle at 12.  Just when you think you've got some habits ingrained they go and do something like this....

She runs off for the afternoon with her friend and my camera.  Uh oh.  What's the plan?????

Well let me show ya what she did for the afternoon.

She's catchin' butterflies...

Taking close up pic's....

Climbing trees...AND she snuck her bow out of the house!

Oh wait....uh... hey, ain't that a good thing????

Yup, I'm the Daddy to a tom-boy and proud of it!

Here's a couple more.

Pretendin' she's sneaking up on sumthin'.

Taking a little break.  By the way, this one is my new wallpaper.

Oooooooh!  Dangerous!  But she told me "Dad, I didn't have the arrow on the string.  I was just faking it.  I'd never point a bow that close to my friend."  Hey, maybe she does listen sometimes.

Put a camera in a kids hands and they just start to notice little things like this.

And this.

Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

And this.

She's gonna hunt deer with the bow for the first time this fall.  Think she's ready?

Might have to work on that camo a bit.  Apparently she's immune to chiggers though....

Yup, she's right at home in the woods eh?

Very nice Dave.  Job well done!  Tell her good luck with the bow this season.  Enjoy!

Fantastic photos, the fact that she even thought to take the bow with a friend along shows that it is important to her.
I hope you have access to a lot of acreage and a backhoe. You gonna need it with the lovestruck boys start showin up

Yea, I guess your right.  I gotta clarify though, the "friend" was a neighbor girl, not a boy.  They've been friends since about 3 years old and her dad was my best friend and the guy who taught me most of what I know about bowhunting.  He died of cancer a few years ago and I've kinda adopted his daughter when it comes to doing outdoor things.

I just thought it was funny/great that two teen age girls would take a summer afternoon walk in the woods and take a bow and arrows along.  Too cool!

She obviously had a VERY good upbringing and teacher. Most of the time kids are products of their mentors and enviorement. When the boys start hanging around ,and they will blunts work real well!.Well done my friend.

Hey Dave, I remember when she was a little girl at Mojam of about 8, with perfect form at the shooting range, and I mean perfect form.  How old is your boy now?  Has his face grown into his big eyes?  You've got beautiful kids.

My daughter(13) hasn't died her hair yet. Yet.

I can give testimony about Dave's children, they are some of the best behaved kids you would ever want to meet.

I have shared campfires with them at Hermann and Marshall and over years they just got better.

You can hold your head high Dave! You and mom have been great examples to all.

Thanks for sharing!

God bless,Mudd

You have done it right, you should be very proud of your little girl.

They should give some lessons on photography to a few of us, those are some great pics!

I would say you should be proud, but that's pretty obvious.
