We lost our 15 year long lease this past February to a higher bidder, so I'm gonna do it the hard way this year and hunt the river. We have family property that borders about 2miles of river front so I'm going after river rat deer this year. It's a challenge to say the least, it's some rough A** ground! Bluffs, straight up and down mud banks, sloughs, briar thickets, and the deer around here are part billy goat.     ;)

They aren't like those open country, flat ground, row crop deer like up north Missouri. That huntin is easy compared to down here in hill country, but I'm gonna Git Er Done come hell or high water......Literally!

Good Luck to you Charlie, and scouting out your new ground. It seems like in my experience that the first year hunting a new piece of ground is always the best and somehow sort of magical. The anticipation and excitement of not knowing what's out there always keeps you on high alert. I love that feeling, cause you never know what's going to come slippin by.
