Bear Paw Avian recurve
« on: September 03, 2010, 04:53:00 PM »
Has anyone shot the new Bear Paw / Avian recurve? I read about Neil Jacobson's new line of bows in a recent Bowhunter magazine, and I was interested in hearing a review.

Thank you,
Ward

Long time since the original post but,
I have the riser.  I have only had it a short while but am still working into a sweet spot.

From Inital observation:
HITS
Looks, great traditional looking Aluminum ILF riser with a radiused shelf for shooting off the shelf.
Weight
Use modern limb shock savers but inside the riser to again make the riser more traditional looking.
Customer Service (Neil has been outstanding to work with)
Grip I didnt care for many of the aluminum ilf risers from the compound grip.  Neil has designed/made a excellent high wrist with a swell recurve grip that feels great!
Misses
Only one he makes his own Avian ILF limbs that have extra length for a very secure fit.
When you use standard ILF limbs there is a gap in the riser where his limbs would cover.  It is a looks thing but would have liked the standard limbs not to have a gap.
And yes I know this post is close to useless without PICTURES! Will add some when I get time.
More bows than I should have!
