Treestand vs Still Ground/Blind

What is your preferred method of deer hunting? From a treestand or still hunting on the ground/blind.

like J.Williams i also like both but feel i am more successful from a tree just because i tend to scare more deer outta their wits on the ground,I am now 6 weeks past shoulder surgery and all my efforts are going to be from the ground it wouldnt be smart to be hanging stands and climbing risking annother setback and missing any more work. I am looking forward to recieving a package from cabaelas i ordered a gille suit hopeing it would improve my chances at sucess this year.   good topic

I prefer a ground blind. No steep angle to contend with.

More successful from treestand, but also enjoy hunting from ground.

I too like both...the ground blinds are great if you plan on spending a lot of time out in the woods, more comfortable.  The deer in my picture was shot while in a ground blind...16 yards!  For tree stands, I only use ladder stands, too old to go up high like my son and his friends.

Hawgs don't climb trees, so it's a ghuillie, my homemade folding blind, and my "on-the-bow" blind with both feet on the ground.

Since my back surgery I prefer the use of a natural ground blind if I can...If I happen to fall asleep and fall out of my Huntmore 360 it won't hurt as bad ...No safety harness needed and quicker time setting up and packing out...   :goldtooth:

Tree stand. Its so thick down here, you have to get into a tree just to see down in this thick stuff.

I hunt on the ground and out of tree stands, depending on the cover where I'm hunting.

I have killed more critters hunting from tree stands.

I use to hunt solely from the ground; nothing like it when a deer sneaks by @ only 5 yards! The last several years I've been in a tree. At times I enjoy just creeping through the woods on foot,(depending on how much time I have), and have taken a couple this way too. But just being out hunting is what it's all about!

I like both and have missed deer out of both.It all depends where I am hunting if on gamelands where I might walk a mile or more I will use a ground blind.

Can't STAND sitting on the ground... I like the view from a tree so much more!  With that said, I'm about to start ground-sitting: set up a blind for my 9-year-old daughter last night because she'll get a more controlled shot with better footing.

For me, the treestand isn't to hide myself better from the approaching deer.  It just allows me to see the deer before it sees me.  That gives me time to get ready.

I do both but my stands are getting lower each year so I may as well be on the ground full time.....Randy
