looking EXTREMLY good this year, lots of critters!
« on: September 05, 2010, 04:38:00 PM »
myself, Charlie (CylicRivers) and Tim (3Feahers) hung the last 3 stands to bring the total to 6 stands, 2 ground blinds and a climber on the mountain. acorns ooooo plenty, great deer sign and lots of bear sign. of course when i do not bring a camera we find a great bear track in the mud!!!! had a nice stop at the 5th Direction for a bite to eat and coffee. i have never been more excited to hunt then this year!!! things look ohhhhhh soooooooo good for this early season!!!!! i have not found any beech nuts though which bothers me, i believe they drop a little latter. come on hunting season!

Ken,
I agree. Just took a walk to the top of the mountain and down the other side. Saw two different flocks of turkeys along the way. It is going to be a fast paced season I believe.

Doug,

Ken forgot to mention , No shortage of turkeys here either.

Being on that hill is healing!  The kinda place you want to be and when you are there you just feel like your right where you want to be.

we're thinking of keeping a camp journal of everyone's adventures.  Should be plenty of time for recording adventures around the fire.

Perhaps we'll share if anyone's interested. Perhaps some of you will come and add to it.

This season, I am more excited about than any other before.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

Ken I am sure that time will drag for you.
Keep yourself busy and it will fly by.
The sign you are seeing will just get better.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Are you taking the shrew out this year?

no doubt memories will be made this year. i really think there is a great chance of someone seeing a bear in the early season. they stay pretty much in the small ledges where the beech trees are and they hang around untill rifle opens and they get pushed out. i do not wish to kill one but i would be EXTREMLY happy if someone else did!!

Ken,
Can't wait to hear the stories and will make every attempt to get over there to hunt with you and the boys. My brother and I will be at my place opening of bear. My brother uses wheels but yesterday asked me about my RH recurve. Will have another trad hunter next year I hope. He lives in Johnstown and may be able to join you guys more than me once we get him "converted"

Tim,

That one bout Killed me. Its a little green yet so it may be better for burning next year.  I'll hack it in half and split it up Hopefully we will have some hard wood for cooking then.

I think I put a bug in Kens ear about what we'll be cooking next time right along with Deer Heart, Liver and Tenderloin.

Hold on, I have to wipe my drool.

Ok, seriously, If we dont see deer from the new stands I'll be convinced there's no deer in the mountains and some troll is placing the poop there.
Relax,

You'll live longer!
