How about you Oklahoma Guys?... UPDATED PAGE 2
« on: September 07, 2010, 08:54:00 PM »
Year before last a bunch of us got together and did a little impromptu pig hunt in the Kellyville area.  I had a great time and met some good guys.  Who's up for round two?

I'm thinking maybe a weekend camping deer hunt.  Let's get 5 or 6 of us together and figure out a location.

Gotta be in the tulsa area?  I remember that pig hunt but don't remember how it turned out.

I can suggest some good areas..but I'm only really familiar with my neck of the state.

I'm saying it can be anywhere.  I've got a few ideas in this part of the state but I'm very open to suggestions.  My first idea was Spavinaw GMA.  I've never hunted it but always wanted to.

Let's hear some more and get a crew on board, we can work out the details later.

I'm up for any and all pig hunts!  That is if the timing works out with my schedule...

Lived here in Edmond for four years while going to Vet school in Stillwater (wife was stationed at Tinker...).  Left after graduation to KY, and now we are back in Edmond (she got stationed back at Tinker, and I'm working at a clinic in OKC...).  Didn't get any real hunting done while I was in school, but now I've got free time to get some done.  Just need to know where some places are to get some hunting done.

So, like I said, I'm in!

I would love to get in on this.  Already planned to take a week off to camp and hunt myself.  This would just make it that much sweeter.  Campfire and stories after a day in the woods!  It just don't get no better.  I would help if we can set a date that gives me about a month notice so I can get the time off because I drive a truck but I am willing to go anywhere in our great state.

Spavinaw would be a good one.  Never been there either. Is that the one with some elk up by tenkiller?

My other picks would be...

James Collins...lots of deer, turkey, and swine.

Robbers Cave...lots of deer, turkey and a few swine.

Id also be up for someplace out west, like Packsaddle or even Black Kettle.

James Collins sounds like a good choice to me.  More centrally located and I dont think there are any pigs in Spavinaw.  How about a date?  There are a few weekends closed for draw hunts so we would have to work around those.

Looks like James Collins is closed during muzzle loader season and the first weekend of gun.  How about a weekend in the middle?  November 6,7 weekend or 13,14th?  Should be cooler temps and peak rut then anyway....

Alrighty then, I'll throw out a tentative hunt and we'll just see who can make it.

For those interested, I'm going to hunt James Collins WMA on the weekend of November 13th and 14th.  I've never laid eyes on the place so I'll try and get down there before hand.

Right now, I plan on arriving on Thursday Nov 11 to find a suitable campsite and get squared away.

I'll be the big goofy guy in the green Dodge truck.  Looks like they've got deer, hogs, turkeys and even a few bears for anyone with a tag.  See you guys there

Most of collins is in pittsburg county...not a legal bear county, unless they've opened more counties up to bear hunting this year.

I'm out that weekend. Got family crap in south dakota that weekend.   Wish yall all the best luck!

Never hunted James Collins. But have hunted Spavinaw,Cookson,Cherokee. All good. Spavinaw is my favorite. Their are hogs in Cherokee but haven't hunted it in quite awhile.

I will be there either way.  I will square my days off so that the weekend will be in the middle of the 7 that I am taking.  This sounds like fun.

I'm interested.  I'm down in Lawton at Ft. Sill untill for another month, but I brought two bows with me and am getting a little tired of shooting in my hotel room.  Even when I leave here, I'll be in NW Arkansas, so it's not a long way off.

I'd be interested. I haven't met any tradgangers in the area and have always wanted to check James Collins.
