first robinhood
« on: September 09, 2010, 08:36:00 PM »
got my first robinhood today.i should feel good about this.i have a dozen arrows i had made by karin forcier.they fly like lazer beams.they are 23/64 poc.first shot in the 11 ring.second shot split the first right down the middle.i feel good that i am shooting well, but i hate that i split one of my really great shooting arrows.the good news is that the little woman said, why don't you just order some new arrows.i love her.my question is,what fletcher do you guys recomend?i know there is alot of great arrow fletchers that are sponsers on this site.which fletchers do you guys recomend?i like poc but i have been interested in other shaft materials.any imput will be greatly appreciated.thanks guys, steve

Good shooting.  I've blown nocks off, but never split a shaft.

WE NEED PICS.  I have yet to get one, and I'm anxious for that time to come.

Congrats Steve.  I have been a Fan of Doug Fir and Sitka Spruce lately.  I think you should be a fan of a target that offers separate aiming points if you keep shooting like that.  Congrats bud

i didn't take a pic.the arrow broke the nock but also hit the end of the taper and split the shaft.i've broke nocks before but never dead center.all of the nocks i broke was when there was a bunch of arrows in the target not just one in the 11 ring.i have been practicing a lot latly tring to get ready for deer season.i think what really helped was shooting 20 ounce bottles tring to get ready to hunt squirrles.btw the wife is a good one.she just gave me my bow jar back.thats the jar i can put extra money in to save for a new bow.i love her.good luck this season guys, steve

Good wife Steve!  If you are shooting this good with that bow now perhaps she should hold onto the jar a little longer this way you dont second guess yourself while hunting.

On Second thought if you have the money and have the desire knock yourself out.  Most Bowyers would not have your bow done in time for the season anyways.

If you are buying used, wait until someone misses a deer and blames their bow, you may get a better price   ;)

i split a carbon arrow of a friend , when we shot one or two arrows and then would chance angles to the target.
i guess we wont do that again without pulling arrows haha.

Congrats.  After twenty years with a compound and no 'hoods, I've done it three times with trad equip. in two years.  Go figure.

Congrats on the Robinhood shot!  I have yet to get one myself,(even though my name is "Robin")! But perhaps soon, as I am feeling real comfortable with my new "Predator Hunter" that I just aquired from Vermonster!
