As for the Martin Bows. I hate them.
That's some tuff stuff there pardner. The Martin line, IMO, is far superior to the SKY line now being produced by Mathews. The Martins that I have shot have been very well made and great performers. Good luck with your Sky though.

You must be joking because I sure am ROTFLMAO at that comment.

got a Mathews Sky LB in my shop i'd make somebody a sweet deal on----been shot by a bunch of trad shooters last two years and no one liked it---it's almost a joke to me that they'd make a longbow out of white maple, leave it undyed and then put a high-gloss finish on it, and oh yeah, suggest a retail price that eclipses some truly good custom bows. It's not like it's a target bow so why the light color and high-gloss ?

P.S. I have, on the other hand, sold quite a few Martin Hunters, Mambas, Savannas, etc. with no complaints or returns. Got a couple myself and they're good stuff

I saw a pic' on the "auction site" under "other" bows...

It's also 66", and I don't know if they come in other lengths...looks like maple riser, no phenolic reinforcements, no overlays, dished or semi-locator grip, and horizontally lam'd actionwood under clear glass for the limbs...can't tell how many layers or tapers...

You might try a leather wrap to beef the grip up a bit and knock some handshock down...

SKY was at it's best when Earl was at the helm ,I own three of them .Mathews bought the line because they tried to get into the olympic bow game .They even had an olympic shooter to push their product .Mathews is a wonder at marketing ,they can sell a cheap bow that they say they invented and people will run out and buy.Look through a bow hunting magazine and they have the middle with four pages, that is the reason for their extremly high prices on all their bows.

Sorry I had to vent.

Thanks Mike

Alright guys don't make the guy feel bad...now c'mon y'all know better!!

Just trying to point out that there are other (and subjectively better) options is good enough...

Whatever you get, we hope you enjoy it, and if you have any tuning issues, just put up a post and you'll get tons of tips.

Take Care,
Marc

I have a Bear Montana that I would put up against any mathews traditional bow out there; for that kind of price, go with a black widow LB; at least they are alot closer to "custom" than the mathews; hope you can cancel your order; good luck;  :(

Y'all know what opinions are like?

In the final analysis, who cares what anyone "likes" - all that matters is what works best for you.

This thread has gotten too silly and off track, time to put it to sleep.
