I just enjoyed it all: the story, the pictures, the bull, and the thrill one feels with someone else's successful hunt. Good job!

Found your specs on page 3. Nice setup, a lot of FOC and you put the arrow right where it needed to be.

One of the disadvantages of spending three weeks in the mountains like I did last year is that I missed out on a lot of great threads like this one.  I don't think I saw this before today.  But on the plus side it sure is cool to see it now!
Absolutely a stunning animal Randy - congratulations!!!  You sure give us something to dream about as we wait for the tag drawings this spring!!

Heck I missed this one also, as I was out chasing them at the same time.  What a great story and elk.  Well done!

Trax and Randy,

Not sure you guys are really on opposite sides of the coin, but that is only guessing from what was posted and how I read it.

I think there is wisdom in wanting "better management" than the "oh, poor fuzzy bears" attitude that has seeped into even Western game management by a very vocal minority.

I think Trax also makes good points, but I don't see the two views (asperceived by me)as actually opposing viewpoints. Both are viable in the same situation.  FWIW.

Randy,

The animal is an incredible dream come true, but to have the chance to DO what you did in the country you were in, and do it all on your own, is at least as awe-inspiring to me as the bull itself!

Lived in MT for 6 yrs...and never felt like I could take a deep enough breath to drink in all that my eyes saw and memory tries to relive.

Congrats on you. The entire experience is what many of us dream about into our aged years. To have done it must be something that will take years to become totally REAL, even to you!

     :notworthy:

Good job, congrats..♠  :campfire:    :archer2:
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. TGMM ♥
