loosing weight for hunting season
« on: September 13, 2010, 09:14:00 PM »
Well as of april 12th I was 270 pounds.and after giving up mt dew and eating better and jogging and riding a bike I am now feeling better for hunting season .I am now down to 208.if I can do it anyone can.I am striving to get down under 200 pounds and when I do as a treat to myself I am going to eat a large size snickers bar.I use to eat one a day at work. And giving up the mt dew wasnt all that hard.I thought it would be because that is all I ever drank like 8 to 10 cans a day.replased that with water.

Good job Bob. I lost 20 pounds earlier this year but put 5 back on (!).

I feel better too. Have to knock the 5 back off in the next couple of weeks. Once you get in a routine it's not too bad to keep at it. It's if you get out of the routine, like I did, it catches back up.

Mountain biking is my fix. Great cardio workout and you're outdoors to see nature. Great for climbing, walking, and dragging out a deer. It also works the upper body and core for strength building for shooting.

Congrats on your dedication and reaching your goals.

Great job!

That's a lot of lb's!  I started mid Feb and went from 235 to 205.  I feel your pain on breaking 200.  Never thought 5 lbs could be so hard.  Keep it up!

Good Job.

8 mtn dews/day = 1600+ cal/day.  Even if you only removed these from your diet, you'd lose (assuming you didn't replace those calories with something else) 54+#'s in 4mos.

Yeah.  They add up.

Keep up the great work.

the hardest thing about mountain biking is finding a place in the city to do it.

There have to be those places...I just haven't located one in close proximity to where I live.

Driving 50 miles to bike is not a workable solution.

Are there websites where I might find the locations near me?

I didnt loose weight, but i converted alot of fat into muscles. I tried a kettlebell for training and believe me, its absolutely fantastic. Also for working into a heavier bow. Started ith a 13kg. bell and am now using a 20 kg. OK, first days are hard, 10 minutes training gives 5 days aches in muscles but the results are great!

Congrats on the weight loss. Nothing is better for your overall health. Not to mention hunting. I am not a big guy but dropped 22lbs myself this spring never felt better.

I'm hoping I've done the same.  I've amped my running up to 40 miles/wk., training for a 10/3 half-marathon.

Hoping the increased fitness will transfer over into my hunting.

Congrats to all who've gotten in better shape, of late.
