My Stalker likes Woodies
« on: September 14, 2010, 09:34:00 AM »
Well I've never had a Robin Hood...sad I know. So yesterday I was tuning the "try-out" bow South sent me from Stalker. I had 2 different spined wood arrows but tuned them by cutting a little off one and adding some point weight. They flew identical. I finally started to shoot some quartering away shots to further test them and mounted a broadhead on one. Here's the fine "Stealth" from South:

The last four arrows were enough for me. He is going to have a hard time getting this bow out of my hands. I was shooting from 25 yards away and without the broadhead on I might have had a Robin Hood   :)

One arrow split and four deadly arrows. Come on Oct. I can't wait to get into the deer woods with this bow !

Great Shooting, Mike!  I think I recognize a couple of those arrows.   :D

Gosh, nice group.  I think I would call that a Robin Hood ... good enough for me! 25 yards, no sights ... good shooting man!

It's gonna hurt to have to send that bow back to South. Better give him a call. Tell him to cash the  deposit check. Your keeping the bow!!!

Rick your arrows did the damage  :)  They are flying great and I can't wait to slip an Ace through the rib-cage of a whitetail with one of 'em!

Mike did you make it elk hunting with your other Stalker? What is the difference in specs between those 2 Stalkers?

Thanks guys! I shot it again tonight. It really likes those wood arrows. They weigh 685 gr with broadheads/points...Lookin' forward to Oct!

Mike, dumb me twisted a limb on my grey Stealth stringing it the day before I left. Not bad but enough to make me REAL nervous about being in the backcountry with it. South being the kinda guy he is overnighted this back-up/tryout bow to WY and it was waiting on me when I got there. This is it! 55 at 28 and I draw to 29. so about 58#. It is only 58in but no stack or pinch and just as smooth as any I have shot of his...he has been hunting and I have not heard back from him on my grey bow. I sent the grey Stalker to him just to check it out. So, darn the luck, I got this awesome bow to shoot. Me thinks I am gonna be in trouble with the wife, 'cause I am gonna have a hard time sending this back to California   :)   Here's a link of my elk hunt. I hunted mulies with this bow and got sooooooo close!

Mike, thanks for the link. I don't know how I missed your excellent story. What a shot! The name Stalker seems like a natural for YOU and the bow. What camera were you using? Those are amazing photos. Congrats again.

Mike It's a Cannon Powershot SX110is. It has a decent zoom and several nice features, but most importantly it will fit in my cargo pocket of my pants and is somewhat light. Thanks for the Stalker comment...that part of hunting is my favorite part. My goal someday is to count coup and touch a deer or elk. Until then I'll take my shots as close as I can get 'em  :)

Hey Mike, I'm looking forward to the whitetail stories and pics.  Oct 1 is getting closer all the time.  :archer2:

You bet Rick! Gonna try and put one of your arrows in the sweet spot of a few whitetails. 15 days!
