34 years ago today I recieved my first real bow for my 4th birthday!

Actually Dad says I was shooting a little hickory branch bow before that but this was the first real bow.

I still got that little bear bow. All five of my sons started out shooting with it, around a dozen nieces and nephews have shot it a few times as well as a bunch of neighbor kids.

Here it is the birthday gift that created the monster I have become (according to my Mom)!

I was lucky I guess to grow up in a bowhunting family and to get an early start.

My dad is a bowhunter, my grandfather did a little bowhunting and I wouldn't be suprised if my great grand father had shot a few arra's!

There's something to be said about the drive to hunt being genetic I suppose. Or may be it was because when Mom went into labor with me Dad had just came in with a limit of squirrels! Mom was gracias enough to hold me back until Dad could finish cleaning them and drive her to the hospital! I got a feeling there was still a little squirrel blood under his nails when he held me the first time that day.......maybe thats where my desire to hunt came from!

Anyway I have a 3 year old great nephew who has been staying with me for the last 6 months or so, He's getting his turn in on my "first bow"!

Alot of lives have been touched by that little fiberglass thing!

Nice to think that little bow has infected many with the archery bug.  Neat story.  And by the way Happy Birthday!
