Thanks Mudd for the intro to tradition
« on: September 16, 2010, 08:46:00 PM »
I met Mudd a couple weeks ago at the local archery range.  I've been ready to switch over to traditional archery ever since.  Today my daughter, son and I got to go to his house and try out all of his bows.  I have been advised that when looking for a bow, shoot as many as possible.  At Mudd's house, I didn't shoot a single bow I didn't like!  Fortunately, there were a couple that seemed to find the target with greater ease.  I now have some ideas on what to look for (and they weren't what I expected).  By the way Mudd, it was fun to listen to the kids excitingly trying to tell their mother how much fun they had - at the same time!  Thanks!

Welcome to the world of traditioanl archery.   :campfire:

I must warn you it is a terminal disease.   :D
TGMM-Family of the Bow

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

Loston66,
Glad you had a good time. Roy's been my buddy for a long time & I really enjoy his company. I always have a good time with him. Only problem is he doesn't like grits & it's hard to look too long at his face. I once saw him ugly a gray squirrel out of a 50ft. white oak in less than 4 seconds!    :biglaugh:

Mudd,
That's the way to make them feel welcome. good goin'.
God Bless

Hey Mike, you Emma and Wyatt are lucky.  I haven't got to see the full stable yet but I have my bow in the truck now so the next time I get up that way I will show Mudd what I can do with a short and sweet recurve.  Glad y'all had a good time and I hope you find the ONE soon. Travis aka Gabby.

Thanks for all of the support.  I can see the "terminal disease" chopx2.  After shooting with Mudd, I remarked that I now know I wasn't just going to be looking for my first bow, but likely the second, and...  Thanks for posting the pics, Mudd.  I think the hat helped Emma channel for better shooting!  If most traditional archers are like Mudd, I can tell I'm going to meet a lot of great people!

You keep hanging around with Mudd, two things is gonna happen.First you will be a Bowaholic, and welcome to our world, and second you'll get this burning desire to help new people to our world. They don't come any better than Mudd! Sure would be nice for the rest of the world to catch Mudditis !
