"Stinker", My First....
« on: September 17, 2010, 08:35:00 PM »
"Stinker" is my first selfbow I've ever built. But only with a lot of help from my buddy Glenbo. For more pix of the slow progress it took took to complete it check this out...

I'm kinda proud of it so I figured I'd post some pix here as well.

Very cool, congrats on a great looking bow.

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs

It came out better than I even thought it would have and shoots great. Speed is suprisingly good and it's deadly quiet.

I swear, I wish I had one ounce of the talent and craftsmanship most off you guys have here.

Beauty Guru.

How does it shoot?  Everytime I have the inkling to buy a self bow, I shoot one and am instantly "shocked" to my senses.

Very nice! Cool looking bow, it'd be perfect if the shelf was on the right side. Lol!   :clapper:

Thanx fellas....I messed up with the link I attatched...it went straight to the last page of the thread on the bowyers bench. Fixed that now.

I knew I messed it up because I got some questions that would have been answered had I posted it correctly the first time...

"Do you have plans to hunt with it"....

You bet I do!

Although I don't plan on hunting the whole season with it. I will without a doubt spend some quality time with Stinker.

I have plans to make some arrows with some very special points(when I run down some 55-60# shafts).  Doug campbell damascus trades that were gifted to me by my buddy Vance "Iron Bull" Brewer, and some others will be tipped with some "Knife River" stone points that were given to me by the man himself Woody Blackwell in TX this year at the Pig Gig.

With those points, some stain fades to match Stinker, and some snakeskin crests from the left over stinky skin parts, the arrows should be a great compliment to the bow and will add that much more to the whole experience when it all comes together...I can't wait!!
