Static Recurve shooters? (Pics added)
« on: September 17, 2010, 11:20:00 PM »
Just curious how many of the recurve shooters in here shoot statics? I just got mine static recurve from a bowyer here in Indiana which is modeled after the first Bear bows that Nels Grumley used to make for Fred Bear. I am very pleased with it and wondered how many others here shoot statics... I'll try and get some pics posted of my new bow posted here soon. The specs for it are 62", 47@28",maple core, osage riser and limbs, ebony tips.

I love mine!  Very quiet for a recurve. Good luck.

My wife shoots one.  I have one but dont shoot it much!  My wife can shot with the best   . I would shoot her bow more often if she didn't always have it in hand.

Nice to see a fellow TG'er has a John Brooks bow. He's a great guy, a very fine bowyer, and very modest about how great his bows really are. Tree Dancer you'll have to post a pic of yours too if you get a chance.

I shoot and build two models of static recurve called the Talon. One is a three piece takedown and the other is a 56 in onepiece. I love the statice. Mine is really different with a past 90 degree tight recurve instead of the longer and the conventional recurve.  As stated they are super quiet and quick. God Bless you ,. Steve

Hey John,You are so right, Mr. Brooks is a very modest man.
I like to call him The Southern Gentleman that is what he truly is!
I won't talk about how fast his bows are, no one would belive it anyway.   George

I know I have been providing Mr. Brooks, aka, "The Southern Gentleman" with some stats as far as arrows go and arrow speed through a chronograph. I'm amazed at some of the speeds myself...I'm gonna try and get pics of some of the recent tests on here along with my bow.

I do not have a chronograph, but I have been shooting for over fifty years.
I've shot alot of bows in that time, I know fast when I see it.
Look forward to seeing your tests.  George

I know all my Kwyk Styk customers who are shooting Static Limbs love the bow...especially the super smooth draw.

I agree with Joe 100%. One smooth and fast shooting machine is this Kempf Kwyk Styk 56" 55@28. Recieved it in May this year. I had the throat made smaller, also Jack added a thumbrest that really feels great.
