I have two bows with the static tips.  A Dryad Epic and an RER Retro, enjoy them both.  I haven't noticed either to be extremely fast, although plenty quick for me, but both are very, very quiet.  For me quiet is where it's at, not speed.  But having said that, having both is really nice too.   RW.

That is one cool looking bow. kind of puts one back in the old days.

John I love the pictures of your bow.

Those tips are just the "cat's meow!" and the only style of recurves that has tweaked my interest in curves.

So far my interests have been limited to looking.

If I get a chance to shoot one someday that may change...lol

Thank you for sharing.

God bless,Mudd

My Father inlaw had a bow just like yours.
He told me not to string it as they are prone to break.

HE WAS RIGHT!!

As I understand it.. a static tip is a bow that the tips don't work as part of the limb, ie they are static.. non-moving.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Chis,

Those are some wicked looking poison arrows you got there. What are the specs of the wraps and fletching? Are those tracers on there too?

Static tips are tips that do not bend or do not bend much. They do work in that the perform a purpose. The extend and maintain the length of draw keeping the string angle even trhorugh most of the draw which really makes a smooth drawing or even drawing bow gaining the same or close to the same poundage through the draw cycle. They also quiten the bow down in that the string comes abruptly off of the stiff tip and so there is little if any string slap or vibration. The smaller the tips and still long enough to perform these functions the faster and lighter the limb and the bow is. That is why I designed the short , sharp hook.on the Talon. It makes a super efficient , light in weight limb. God Bless and hope this helps , Steve

I only own one recurve. 49 inch Texas Recurves Comanche. 73#@28 inches. This bow is as quiet as any of my longbows, and I love the tips. I found it used several years ago.

The last two bows I built were static tip recurves. Very quiet and quite fast. Arrows for the bows had to be changed to the next size up and the one which is used at a longer draw length than I use, had to move up two sizes for my friend. They shoot very smooth and I noticed my point on has moved out 5 more yards. I am real pleased with the static tip.  :D

Rank Bull I love it!!

It's those bumps on the limb tips that intrigue me.
They just look so cool!!

I think I might have to find one to shoot at least, even if I can't own one.
