Cleaning wool camo?

Does it have to be dried cleaned, or can you throw it in the wash with everything else camo?

Bronz,

I hate answers like this, but it depends.

First thing I would do is double check the care instructions on the tag and follow those.

In the absence of a tag, I think I would carefully hand wash in the sink with gentle detergent ( I use a clothing soap made for hunter's without scent or dyes). Then roll the garment up tightly in a dry towel to get most of the water out. Then I would lay it out or drape it over something while it finishes drying.

Are we talking about a shirt, sweater, jacket or what?

OkKeith

One other thing is to give it SEVERAL good stretches as it is drying. Do NOT put it out to dry in sunlight unless fairly cool out or next to any heat or kiss it goodbye.
Wool sure does stink when wet!

Dry cleaning kills the natural oil and the less you wash the better. I just hang my wool in the shade to air out, stuff like mud can be brushed away, and if it really gets too dirty follow OkKeith's instructions.

I hand wash my wool every other year. hang in the shade and streach as needed.
