Who knew a NAT could kill a bear???
« on: September 21, 2010, 01:30:00 AM »
Just got home from a long day hunting. Shot a 150lb black bear @ 7:02 tonight. My Lost Creek NAT strikes again!!! Chad made this bow for me in May and I took my first Trad turkey the last day of May. Now 3 days into the bear season I have my first bear with her. Watched the bear come in from about 80 yards and put a shaft through him at about 15 yards. He only went about 40 yards. No pics to speak of because it was so late. I took some at Home Depot with the bear on my ATV. Will email them to Ken to post when I get a chance. My setup is my 54" NAT 51@ 26. Shooting Maxima 250s @ 29.5" with 100 grain insetrs and topped with 225 grain Phatheads. Arrow weight of 605 grains and fletched with right wing feathers from my turkey. Would like to say a special thanks to Ed Bielejec for his constant help and to Chad for an awesome bow. Time to go to bed. Need to be up in 5 hours.

Way to go, i hope my wife's new NAT does as well for her.  I have complete confidence in the bow and her abilities with it.  Now if we can get the deer to cooperate, she can add another NAT success story.  So far you are having a great year.

How cool is this? Way!! I'm saying...

Just totally awesome!!

I do think you need to give yourself some of the credit. The bow may be the "cat's meow" but it takes a shooter too!! (IMHO)

Congratulations!

God bless,Mudd

Looks like Iowa boys know how to make some great bows!
Congrats on the bear!

Thanks guys. Getting bears is easy. Between myself, my two brothers & my Dad we have taken 4 bears counting the two this year. That is in 90+ years of hunting between us. The only good thing I can say is we have never missed one. My brother got a small one in 05 with a compound then the nice one this year with the rifle. My two came in 07 my first trad kill with my Mikuta TD recurve and now this one with my NAT.
Finding food is definitely the key. Good luck to all.
Hope to see some of you at the shoot Saturday.
