Welcome. I had a Wing Corsair Slimline target bow in the 70's. I think it was like $35.00 new in 73 or 74. Mine was 66 inches long and 35 pounds at 28". The Hoyt stick on is a great rest for that bow, I shot target archery and used a springy rest along with a 30 inch stabalizer and was able to shoot in the high 270's at the indoor 300 shoots. It is very accurate for what was considered a beginners target bow at the time. Just have fun with it.

A bit of advice that will shorten the learning curve, get your self the Masters of the barebow dvd series and you will get leaps and bounds ahead of the game.

Wow! I can't get over how many people popped up to say hi! Thanks for the awesome warm welcome. I'm so excited to meet my bow. Haha. Just picked up some basic supplies tonight and was so excited!
Thank you. Now I know it's going to be fun hanging out here.

Yaa basic supplies are always good.Armguard, bowstringer, shooting tab or glove that fits nicely, string wax, quiver, bowsquare, nockpoints, crimping tool.
A fletching jig and fletch tape and 100 feathers are essential tools as well IMO.
The DVD mentioned allready (Masters of the Barebow) is a good place to start as far as getting of to a good start with good shooting form and or technique.
Setting your brace hieght correctly is always important and nock point hieght.
Have fun!

Howdy,
Plan on having way more fun missing the bullseye with a trad bow than hitting it with a compound.... enjoy the journey !!

What Froggy just said is certainly true (I didn't even start archery until I was 46 (except a tad bit as a little kid), and then when I switched to trad gear (about 8-10 years ago) it was a whole new game - of much more fun and feeling of accomplishment (even when failing - LOL). Let yourself love and enjoy the fascination of the arc of the arrow, and everything else will come with time and practice. Welcome aboard from this ol' hoss.

You guys are great. I uses to have what I believe was an old bear fiberglass bow when I was little. I was a pretty good shoot when I managed to whip up a decent form. Hehe.
Thanks again guys.
