Tuning Question
« on: September 22, 2010, 04:33:00 PM »
Question. I have a 50# at 28 inches Bear Grizzly recurve. I draw to 28". If a 2314 arrow cut to 29.5 inches will shoot good from this bow with a 125 grain tip then why would a 2016 arrow cut 29 inches fly so terribly bad with 125 grains or 150 grains on the end of it. Fish tails like the devil. Any suggestions.

The 2016 with those specs is too weak for that set up.  The 2314 should be way, way too stiff. Try the link to the spine calculator.

I also think the 2314 is way too stiff for the setup you're describing. I think if you put a 125 grain broadhead on the 2314, it won't hit anywhere near where the 125 grain field point hits on a target.

You have shot the 2314 out of this bow?

sounds like the 2314 is really to stiff . i would suggest 2117 as the perfect shaft for 50 lb maybe even 2018 .

I agree, the 2314's are WAY STIFF for that bow, I have some 2114's that are 31" w/ 150gr. up front & 5" feathers & they shoot really well but just a touch stiff.
