Bikes & Bows, thanks for your help.
« on: September 23, 2010, 03:55:00 PM »
With the help of the post about using mountain bikes to get to hunting locations, I was able to put together my own "bow bike". This is my first attemp at posting a picture, so please be patient if it doesn't show up below.

My recurve fits on the handle bar bow holder which is removable. My takedown longbow will go in the case mounted to the rear basket. The rear basket holds my pack and stuff. The basket slides on and off the rear cargo rack, of course the takedown longbow case comes off with the basket.
I added a more comfotable seat and had the handle bars changed and a handle bar riser extension added so my old body can ride more comfortably.   :goldtooth:
Thanks to everyone who posted ideas in the previous mountain bike post.

Nice! What kinda longbow case is that?

Zmonster - The takedown longbow case was one I had gotten from 3rivers a few years back. PVC pipe with codura covering and a divider for a two piece longbow.

Cromm - Terry Green had started a post about looking for a mountain bike to use for hunting. There was a lot of good information on that one. Maybe you can do a search and find it, I'll look also.

Cromm - try this link and see if it takes you to the "mountain bike for hunting" thread.

Great setup. Like me, you must be tall to have the seat up so high. If I can do it over again, I'll get a larger frame size to begin with. Makes peddaling easier. Bottom line, mtn bikes are way easier getting around distances in the woods & especially on uphill grades. Nice extras too.
