3 Cheers for Short Bows
« on: May 20, 2007, 08:38:00 PM »
Nothing wrong with 60" recurves...I have two of them and another may be on the way if it works out.  However, I have a 52" (51# @ 28 1/2") Fedora Stalker Recurve and just love this short little bow.  It is such a pleasure to carry around that I feel like I could just slip it in my back pocket.  I can't say I shoot any the worse from the short bow than I do my 60" bows.  If you get a chance try one of these micro midgets...they sure are fun   :)

Know whatcha mean.  I just got a Rodney Wright 46" Stalker and love it.   It's all I need and nothing more.  Since shooting the Stalker my 64" TD seems like way too much. If you have a longer than 28" draw this bow ain't for you.  But for me it's been great, and my shooting has improved with it. I'm a happy camper.  :archer:

I got a chance to shoot a Sheepeater Spirit Recurve the other day, and I think I could put it in my back pocket!!  LOL!!!  Didn't feel bad at all at 29" draw either.  Would be PERFECT for blind hunting.

Hey Brian...you must have got to shoot Pete's bow.   I think the "Sheepeater Spirit Recurve" sits up front with anybody's bow...of course I have a bias!

Mark,

Yes, I got to shoot Pete's.  I think I could grow to like that little rascal!!  The bow I have been shooting is almost 18" longer than the Sheepeater, so it was a shock to my system, but a pleasant shock.

How long was the one Pete had of yours Bert?  I shot that one a year or so ago.

I just bought a New Bear Kodiak Mag. and I just love it. I went roving and didn't have to pay to much attention while in the brush. It points were I what it to a joy to carry and light in the hand. The finger pinch issue at my 28" draw I personaly can't tell the differance between the 60" or the 52." I'm just wondering what took me so long to get one!

I have a 54" Shrew Scout Lil Favorite that Tippit and 4runr tell me shoots nice. I have to wait a little while yet before I get to ring in my opinion on it though. I did have a 52" Red Wing Hunter that was a great shooter even at my 30"

Is anyone concerned that a short bow might make your butt look too big?     ...   ...   :archer:

No ones ever taken a picture of one of my bows by my backside so I have no concerns Ron.

I love short bows, especially my Super Shrew Lil Favorite. This isn't a great shot of the bow, but it shows how the Chameleon finish disapears, and how handy this bow is in brushy areas. Short bows RULE!

With regards to bows and backsides, I may have a picture somewhere of Ron swatting me in the rear with bow somewhere, does that count?

Brian,
That one was 52" NTN unstrung.
Those short bows grow on you.
