What Woods are these???
« on: September 26, 2010, 09:21:00 PM »

Here is my third Morrison this year.I am third owner and I am not sure what woods are in this bow.I definitely got the Morrison Fever this year.I have never ever shot bows that are dead in the hand and darn right smooth.I believe I have finally found the right bowyer for me.Thanks Bob

Yeah the riser is Black phenolic, I am not sure about the limbs but from what I can see they are really pretty. Do you have pics of the entire limb veneer?

Doesnt look like the phenolic cheyenne riser I got from Bob.Thier are different kinds of phenolic though.with slightly different looks.

If its not phenolic or Micarta I would say midnight diamondwood or Ebony diamondwood.

The riser looks exactly like the charcoal dyamondwood in my Tall Tines recurve. I'm not sure about the limb veneers either.

Nice looking bow, though and it sounds like you're happy with the way it shoots.

I will take a pic of the entire limb. This really is a pretty bow. These veneers just stand right out at ya the grain is amazing for sure,I still need to do some fine tuning but it does feel great in the hand and a joy to shoot.I have three real good shooters and season starts in 5 days.Guess I will take all of them for a stroll.LOL..Thanks guys for the inputs

It's a black pnenolic riser, carbon/foam or glass/foam limbs, cocobolo limb veneers.

Maybe kingwood in the limb.

I think it looks like micarta, phonelic would look solid black but you can see the layers or lines in this riser.

My first thought was micarta on the riser, and Kingwood on the limbs.  My second guesses would be diamond and cocobolo.

The riser is linen micarta.  You can see the layers and the weave clearly.  Could be linen phenolic (phenolic is just a type of micarta made with some specific resins).  Either way, tough stuff and a very nice looking bow!
