Turkey ?
« on: September 28, 2010, 09:30:00 AM »
Yesterday I went on a scout/hunt in an area near my house.I got caught up in some rain( felt like a kid). I came down a road and in front of me was a huge turkey not moving. I walked up and was about 2 feet away from it and it popped it's head around and just looked at me and never moved.I walked around him and stuck my bow close to him and he never moved. His feathers and body were not damaged in any way.

Do turkey get any disease's that make them get this way(mad turkey disease)? I thought of putting him down then decided it wasn't the thing to do. Just wondering   :dunno:

Never heard of anything like that.

Could be a farm turkey that made the great escape and doesnt know how to find its own food, maybe starved? Souds goofy to me.

It was a fat turkey and it didnt seem like it had a clue. I thought it might have been attacked by another animal, but it looked in one piece.

Thats a tough one to walk away from, I probably would have popped him and let the critters feed. If you got that close you know darn well a fox, yote or coon could do the same.

I would have killed him, something had to be wrong.  Then I would have taken ownership of his primaries.  :bigsmyl:
