64" length for 31" draw length
« on: September 30, 2010, 04:19:00 PM »
Hello,

I have been looking for new samick verna longbow, but the verna is made only in 64 inch length. Since I have 30 inch draw length and according to some tables I need 68 inch longbow.
But some new longbows are made only to 64 inch length.
What do you think about using 64 inch samick verna longbow for my draw length ( safety, arrow speed, stability, forgiving). I would use the bow for general shooting, roving and 3D.

Regards!
Luka

If you truly draw 30" you will probably appreciate a 66" or longer bow, although IMO a 64" bow won't be horrible.  I draw 29" and have bows 62", 64", & 66".  A lot also depends on the bow.  Some are smoother at a shorter length than others.

someone who shoots that bow needs to answer your question.  I draw 32+", and have bows from 56" to 68".....

With all the great custom bowyers we have in our midst why not contact one of them and get what is most suited for you. I don't know the price of that Chinese bow you are looking at but many bowyers build bows that are very competitively priced.

I have a 30 inch draw and have enjoyed shooting many 62 inch longbows. With a well designed bow I wouldn't even think about it until you started to get below 62 inches. And some will be fine drawing bows out to your length shorter than that.

I shoot 64" longbows with a 30+ inch draw. Both of mine are smooth and hard shooting. But as already said, bow designs vary greatly, it's best to test before you buy.

It all comes down to finger pinch.  I draw 29" and have bows 62" and 64" but 66" feels the best.

Depends on the bow...I draw 31 and have used many 64" longbows comfortably
