My favorite bows--nothing quite like a Hill. Love my Redman, 68", 48@28 ebony riser--oh, yeah, and left handed  ;) .  Sweet!

I'm trying to raise some funds for another one. I want one 50#-53# to hunt elk some day.

I have two, 70" Wesley Special, 63#@29, but the one I really like to shoot is my Big Five 66" 53#@28. I bought that one last year when I got tired of shooting the heavier bows. I really enjoy it alot more now and I also shoot it much better. I also used to think I drew 28+ on a longbow but I realized recently that it's more like 27 - 27-1/2. Maybe I'm shrinking!

I've been looking over the Howard Hill website and, I'm having a doozy of a time deciding on which one I want to make my next one!   :biglaugh:

Does that Redman shoot any different than the Halfbreed I bought from you?  I love the Halfbreed.

Some bows come already tamed and trained...lol

Could "Chief" be one of those?

Actually I'm not sure that the Hill bows don't come from Craig with the "x's" built into them.

God bless,Mudd

PS: Just pulling your leg TW, you're shooting "chief" awesomely!!

I have a Big Five but the next would have to be the Wesley Special, I hear they are the cream of the crop.

Cheney, I'd say it shoots equally with the Half Breed. They are pretty much the same specs.

Thanks Roy. It does take some practice but, I've shot the Hill bows before and once you get them dialed in, they are one of the most pleasurable bows to shoot!

James: I think I've set myself on the "Owl" as my next bow. It will be 68", 51# @ 29". African Blackwood riser and limb tips. Natural Deer laced wrap w/dished grip and Sterling Silver Wolf inlay.

I have a 64", 53@28 TD "Red Man" with 5 lams of yew, the smaller TD sleeve, and ebony riser and tip overlays. This bow is fast, quiet and mobile, with little if any hand shock. At my approximate 28" draw the 64" length is fine, but I would not go any shorter. My other Hill's range from 66" to 68" and weigh in between 55# to 57#@28". The longer the bow the smoother the draw. As for using 51 to 53# "Red Man" on elk. I wouldn't hesitate. Good luck and great shooting.

I really miss my Redman, but the length and grip weren't quite right. They are a super nice bow, and your's is absolutely stunning. One day, I might just have to get another one.

Only thing wrong about a Hill Bow is that you can't blame your misses and lousy shots on "them," like you can about your shotgun and it's bad barrel, or bent trigger, or missing front sight... etc...etc...

Just got off the phone with Craig a little while ago. Looks like I will have a 68" "Owl" headed my way in about 4-5 weeks!   :D

the more I shoot Hill and Hill style bows, the more I don't shoot anything else!

Same with length, the longer the better IMO.

Also, I have several Hill bows, but if you haven't shot one of Steve's at Northern Mist, you are missing out! My newest is just a rocket and SMOOTH/quiet as all get out. Maybe better than the original!
