Just a little reminder metal cables rust and break. While getting situated this morning in my treestand i herd a snap
I shined my light down and one of the side cables snapped off had my safety harness on.Its time to change all the cables out.Be careful and have a great season all.AND WEAR A SAFETY HARNESS!!!!!!!!!

Happened to a friend of mine last year...15ft up and both snapped. He is still hobbling on 2 bad ankles. Be careful and replace them every couple years. I replaced mine with aircraft cable just to be sure.

Agreed but I also agree with Pup & have hunted mostly on the ground for the past few years.

I gave up hunting from high up tree stands. I don't feel comfortable up and high and this is why I've been hunting at ground level for the last 10 years.

The more I hear about stuff like this, the more I am thinking about re-learning the fine art of ground hunting. Must be old age settling in.

Heck, the one morning I let my buddy go into the woods without me he goes and breaks one of our stands.
Your grounded for a week!!!
I knew where he was at but I wouldn't have been able to get to him being I was 2-hours from home. Not to mention as far back in as he was I would have definately had to gut him before dragging him out.
Gotta love those Gorillas. One cable and still held a man. We will be re-evaluating all our stands at seasons end and replacing with chains I recon.

That's exactly why I've never used stands that are made with cables.
Always have used Loc-on Lems and Spirits. No cables to worry about, and Light weight to boot.
