Same kinda thing happened to me with rubber cat whiskers that were too long. Cut them down short, into a ball and just like that my bow was quiet as a mouse.

I agree with stickhead bullwhip action. That sudden stop same as what occurs with the bow and the whip.

Was getting a funny twang (sound like I was picking a banjo )with my Turkey Creek, tried all kinds of silencers, changed strings serveral times, fooled with brace height, noch point till I was blue in the face..still a twang at every shot. Finally removed the tip cover that was on the bottom tip when I got it..bingo, whisper quite,  no idea what that thing was doing to the string/bow but it was sure as heck causing the noise

I found the quickest, best way to quiet down my bow is to just take the batteries out of my hearing aids...  :smileystooges:

Leather tip savers make a hell of a racket when they break-in and get loose--tight fitting rubber/plastic is as quiet as a pocket full of rusted BB's!

Shooting heavy arrows with the proper brace height (sweet spot), my Dyna97 bowstrings do not have any string silencers on them. Whisper quiet upon arrow release.

Just set the brace height right,. I use beaver balls because they look cool and I love seeing the hairs blow off them when you first put them on LOl. God Bless you all, Steve

Yarn puffs, and if its a recurve moleskin on the limb tips where the string hits the limb. Of course heavier arrows always work.

I have used bow hush on my recurves and really like it a lot.  I also used a muskrat hide I had and made some thick, long string silencers out of it and that worked very well.  Heavy arrows take a lot of the noise away as well when coupled with the right brace height.
