My new Tall Tines
« on: October 04, 2010, 11:18:00 AM »
Well I couldn't handle the "hype" anymore and broke down and got myself a TT. Honestly....It's not just hype....they are for real!!

First off, I'm not the kind of guy that needs to legitimize a purchase by saying eveything I buy is a good item but rather have no problem admitting I was taken when it happens. Many bows/quivers/stands...etc. etc. have not been up to "snuff" for my hunting demands, and I'm the 1st guy to relay this type of info. to the next guy.

I received my TT (60", #47, phenolic riser, myrtle limbs) a couple weeks back and after oogleing over it for a while put it together and went through my ritual "set-up" procedures before shooting an arrow. I set the brace height, eyeballed the nock set, put on 2 sets of whiskers and trimmed them, padded the string groves (just a personal thing) and selected an arrow I thought was spined right. Now I only have 15 yards in my basement but set up for my 1st shot. No lie....dead quiet, flew perfect, and hit the center of a 1 inch spot.

So that's shot #1......funny thing the next dozen were almost all the same. I fooled around with different arrow/point combos and everything seemed to tune well. (even bare shafts and broadheads) I can honestly say it is the easiest bow I've ever had to tune.

In terms of shootability....very fast, great grip, smooth way past my draw length, no hand-shock, and like I said....whisper quiet (even with shooting 3 under).

The bow and me "clicked" (and I don't just mean my clicker) so well that I was elk hunting with it 3 days after getting it. I put it through a workout (as I hunt elk 5 miles back in a swamp) and no problems what so ever. Walking around shooting stumps was a blast as I can hit nearly everything I shoot at. Too bad I'm such a lame elk hunter that all I get to shoot at is stumps! I could have shot at a bull moose if I had a tag...oh well!

Just thought I'd post this thread as I don't want guys here to miss out on something great. I know for me, my TT and me are a great fit. I'm quite sure you'll be seeing us in a pic beside a big whitetail this November. I promise to post one as soon as it happens.

Thanks Brian for such a quality bow. Best of luck this season to everyone.....Ryan

Thanks guys!

I have a Tall Tines week next year in my bear camp where everyone in camp will have a TT. Brian will likely be bringing up one of his new longbows (which I hear is quite the shooter) so I just might be ordering another one. I have a heavier set of limbs for this one ordered already to kill a moose with next fall. I really am liking shooting the light limbs though...it's so effortless. With as smooth as the TT is though I'm sure heavier limbs will draw very easily.

Where's Steve O....BTW....he's normally the 1st to respond...Ryan

Well, I'm trying to cut down on the "hype"...    ;)

LOVE the looks of that one Ryan!

I shot the longbow a couple weeks...it was futile to resist ordering after the first arrow. I had been doing so goo too!

Dang, a TT week and I missed it.  I will have mine by then too, actually in time for late deer season this year.

If possible, I would like to see the profile of that grip. Also, what is the circumferance at the throat?

Sweet looking bow! Is an all phenolic riser heavy or light weight?      :clapper:

Friend...The circumferance is 4 3/4"s. I'll send profile pics later when my camera battery is charged.

Wannaba1...the phenolic is not all that heavy. I think in a previous thread somebody weighed all the TT risers and posted the weights.

Dave....we'll make another TT week in camp...lots of openings still??

I believe the phenolic risers were 1-2 oz. heavier than the Dymondwood riser of the same length not noticeable to the hand for sure.  Each exotic is different.  Those phenolic risers are SOLID!

I can't wait for TT bear week!
