Thinking of trying 160 Snuffer. What poundage are you guys shooting with these for deer? Any downside or negative results? Thanks.   BILL

I use 160 snuffers for everything,40# to 65#, and arrow weight of at least 500gr. Never any problems.

Well you can shoot any weight broadhead you want from any bow as long as you are comfortable with the velocity you lose. I shoot 10gpp and pick my point weight accordingly.

I am using them with 68# and 670 grain arrows, but they will work with a lot lower poundages.  I wouldn't be afraid to use them with 45# bow.

IIRC, I read a post by Ryan Rothaar that his dad Roger had used a 42# bow due to rehabing after  shoulder surgery and had killed a few with the 160 Snuffer.

I use them out of 53 pound bows with no ill effects. Gotta love that blood trail.  :bigsmyl:

Why not look at the Wensel Woodsman broadhead?
I'm pretty sure I read they are made by Magnus and they are long and slender in profile.  Lots of trad hunters use them and swear by them.  I'm new to trad archery and hunting and shoot a 45 pound recurve, it's the broadhead I use.  I have no experience taking game with them yet, but have seen probably hundreds of threads of sucessful hunts using the WW heads.  That's why I use them.

I wouldn't hesitate to use them with any hunting weight bow.

I'm using them in my 50# Stalker this year. South Cox told me of a big doe he shot with a 49# Stalker recurve at a quartering shot that passed thru. Hope to find out for myself.

The bows I own are from 55# @ 29" though 74# @ 29", wouldn't hesitate to shoot the 160 Snuffer out of any of them.

Love them snuffers. My bow poundage is in my signature. I would even consider the BigJim's broadhead at 300 grs if you shoot carbons

Good luck,

I shot a average sized doe with a 160 Snuffer Sat. night (10/2). 58lb longbow. Doe was slightly quartering to me, my shot went between the 4th and 5th rib, exited between the last two ribs.
Hit the one lung, liver and a touch of the intestines. the arrow went through her in a flash, she walked away.
With the big hole under her, the blood trail steady 2" wide and wider. She went maybe 60 yards
The head was still sharp enough to cut my forearm hair!
Impressive!

what RC posted
   :notworthy:

a picture is worth a thousand words

it is more important that the arrows shoot straight and true, and they are correctly spined to the bow,

a sharp snuffer does a perfect job

Blood trailing is one of my favorite parts of the hunt. When a snuffer is involved, I am just that much more confident in claiming the prize.

I shot through an elk several years ago with a 55# homemade longbow and a big snuffer.  Never had any issues.  Its not the same head, but shot my bull this year with terminators and the arrow didn't even slow down.
