Climber making me nervous

trust my summit to any height,just take your time and stay tied off from the ground till you get back to the ground. You can hunt at a low height in cover, I have hunted in cover 5 feet up and harvested deer

Your mind must be taking you back to the old Baker days.    

Last year someone butchered my climber.  Stole the seat and the hand nuts and my safety harness, left the base lay in pieces. That was also the night that I barely made it back to the car, because i was going around looking for it and hurt myself and somehow left my longbow set alongside my car. At least I was not having the heart attack that I thought I was having.
 I have had times when on a lone tree that I felt a bit vulnerable, until I got everything settled in. That feeling of nothing to crab if I were to lose my balance was unnerving.  My days of easily tip toeing around on beams many feet above ground, back when I was a construction foreman, are long past.  My son called it 'the widow maker'.
 But still, I am not real certain how I will react when I run into anyone with that bow or someone sitting on the seat portion of my climber.

I think Bonebuster hit it closest to me and my situation. I have a sit and climb wolf and think you should always have that "unsure thought" in your mind because the minute you feel like its nothing to be up there ... I look for a real barky tree for those teeth to dig into. What I hate is getting up about 15 - 17 feet and the platform is still too angled and you have to re-do. Once I had the platform slip about eight inches down and you want to talk about a heartbeat! I keep the two connected for that reason and invested in a safety vest to use. I wear the vest under my KOM with the safety strap poking out the top. A good harness is worth a good life!

Ground blinds are just as good.Harvested just as many on the ground as I have in a tree.

In addition to all the safety concerns already mentioned by others, you will never be able to shoot your bow well out of the stand if you are uncomfortable with it.

I believe that is part of my problem. I have read some other forums about people falling out and just hanging there till they almost died. I will probably still use the climber at some other time, but will be getting more ladder stands and possibly a ghillie suit.
I have some spots brushed up to hunt off the ground, but hunting these ridges it is hard to keep the wind from swirling and not get busted. Thanks for the reply's, I'm just glad to see it's not just me.
