Went stumping with my kiddo
« on: October 07, 2010, 09:08:00 PM »
had a day off at kindergarten so I played hookie too and we went to my favorite stump shooting spot. We made a circle about a mile and half through the woods shooting along the way.

Found a world class banana slug or 10

Yeah, he's shooting short surewoods custom painted by snag... life's pretty good for a kid in Eugene... I put the nanners on there.. snag would not approve    :readit:

And here's one to prove I was there.

Happy hunting everyone.

You're a lucky Pop. Glad to see your son enjoying time with you. Cherish the momments for sure. I miss the days of skeet shootin' with my daughter, plinking with the 10-22 and Bearcat, We never shot bows though:(

Wow, look at that form...not you Russ...Rio's!!! haha I think he's a natural.
That looks like a P&Y Oregon slug. Hope you skinned it for mounting. Can't wait until my grandson is able to walk the woods with me. Looks like a great afternoon. Got to stop and smell the woods once in awhile.

Yeah, snag that slug went on the PB&J for lunch (just kidding) but we found a trophy class one later that I had to talk Rio out of bringing home. He broke an arrow (not one of the surewoods) and that about ruined the day. I tried to convince him that it was either break a few or never shoot but he was hard to reason with.

Without question, the finest stump hunting is to be done in the Northwest. Especially the coast range. I have scouted many Pope and Young record class stumps in the hills around Tillamook. You are especially lucky to have such a sharp looking stumping buddy to stump hunt with.
