Bow sale! something smells fishy
« on: October 11, 2010, 05:07:00 PM »
Here is a E-mail I received from someone named Seun George wanting to purchase my bow from the Trad gang classifieds. the post should be read from the bottom up since it is a e-mail reply.

  Hello,

I am in receipt of your details, and will make sure the payment is mailed out to you immediately. But first, I will want to let you know that an extra fees will be on the payment that will be mailed out to you, and that you will have to deduct your asking price, and then wire the rest of the money to the shipper via western union money transfer, and as soon as the shipper receives the fund, they will in return get in touch with you, and arrangement will be made on how and when the item will be picked.

Furthermore, If OK with the arrangement, please kindly get back to me immediately, so that the payment can be mailed out to you immediately.

Thanks

Seun, The Bow is still for sale. I would rate the bow @ a 8 1/2 out of 10. the leather grip is worn but the finish on the bow is very good. If you have any questions you can call me @ 570-294-9218. If you want the Bow my Address is.

I prefer Postal Money Orders. But Cashier check is ok. I will send you another e-mail with pics I cannot attach them to this one. Take Care And God Bless.

99% of the time if the person refers to what you are selling as "the item" multiple times it's because it's a scam.  A generic email is produced and they just fill in the blank in one spot.  That way it's less work and can be sent to many victims in shorter time.  If I were going to buy your bow I would say I was interested in your bow not "the item".  A lot of people have been getting these lately.

He must have confused himself with writing how he was gonna pay for it.I was confused reading it.

I'm gonna start selling buck logs in brown bags, guaranteed to make your hunt memorable! Maybe he will buy some.

Thank you, Thank you, thank you. He sent me an offer to  buy my Kohannah and wanted to pay with a cashiers check. I told him that I would rather have a money order and when I asked where he was from, I got no reply!!! I have done many transactions on this site and this is the first one like this......Let the buyer and the seller beware. Thanks again for the heads up!!  ron w
