Well season opened Oct 1 and after alot of scouting and placing of stands I met up with this 13pt yesterday morning.I knew this buck very well I have watched him grow/let him walk under my stand for 3rd year now. The first time I saw him he started out as a 2.5 year old 10pt, 3.5 he as a 16pt,and this year 4.5 years old and a 13pt.I think the buck learned my habits as well getting smarter and smarter every year avoiding our stand sites, becoming more nocturnal and we saw him less and less throughout season. Yesterday morning he came into my stand site and spotted me sitting in my tree stand dead still, perfect wind in my face and bolted out of range stopping about 100 yards out and stareing back at me. He never left the area chasing doe around for 10 minutes but when he came within about 50 yards he would look at me and walk away. Just when I though he was ready to leave out he followed a doe to within 25 yards and then stopped stared right at me realizing his mistake and turned to run again. I was faster and within one second was at full draw and released at arrow hitting him right behind his shoulder 10 ring he was down in 50 yards. I was happy and yet sad at the same time knowing he will not walk by my stand anymore but will provide lots of memories and good table fare for my family/friends. Well I still have one buck tag to fill this season but it can't get any more special then this one!
