Do yourself a favor and take a look at Saluki bows from Lukas Novotny.

I'd vote for the Cascade bows. Impressively smooth for a short bow. I liked the old, short Bighorns, but you won't have much luck finding one for sale.

I'm going to have to go with my two tracks ambush.  It's only 50" but wow.  It's a great accurate bow.  It's my go to bow and what I plan on hunting with all season.

I'll second that!  I bought a 56" whisperstick from the classifieds here and it quickly became my favorite bow.

Check out Don Dow's website.  He makes some pretty bows and they are very reasonably priced.  He has a 52" recurve on there.  His website  http://www.stikbowsbydondow.com/index.html

I dont believe they are made anymore, but I have a Hollenbeck recurve, 56" short and draws smoooooth all the way to my 29" draw... Real fun bow to shoot.
Stand up and say it loud: I am a gap-shooter and proud!

I had a Two Tracks 50" Ambush which was a nice bow and am currently shooting a Don Dow 52" recurve. Both shoot really and I can highly recommend either.

My wife's 54" Lost Creek NAT is more accurate and just as fast or faster than any short recurve that I have ever played with including the 52" Pearson I just bought.  I thought I wanted a short recurve for tight or cold hunting situations, now I have a completely different thing to think about buying.

I just bought a 54" Lee Hoots recurve a couple months ago. Its fast and quiet. The finish and craftsmanship are excelent. I have had many people tell me I wouldnt like a short bow but they havent shot one like ths one.
Give Lee Hoots or John Dill from Anneewakee Archery a call and talk to the before you decide.

I have two of them...one for me and one for my son.  I have a 56" 50#@28 recurve and my son has a 54" 45#@28 recurve.  I draw at 29" and can shoot either of these recurves comfortably and accurately.  Gene is a good guy and takes a lot of pride in his bows.  He also has some shorter bows all the way down to 48" I believe.  His bows are definitely worth considering.

I just recieved my Wes Wallace B-Model a couple weeks ago. Since then I would say that it is now the go to bow I have always dreamed of. I had an extra set of limbs for another bow he made for me. This bow is on his website with cocobolo/bacote split veneer limbs. I have always wanted to try a shorter combo so I had him make a B-model riser for me. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! These 60" limbs for the original Mentor riser make the new bow 56". The working part of the limbs did not change, it still shoots as good for me as before. Superb craftsmanship, performance so awesome and I would feel comfortable at distances with any of my longer limbed bows. I once had a Black Widow recurve at 58", I liked it alot, but it did magnify my imperfections, shot awesome when I did my part but not so good when I wasn't perfect. To me the longer cast was always more forgiving. With this new setup I'm as comfortable as ever, maybe even more confidence. Call Wes and ask him about the new B riser as he isn't advertising it yet. TWO THUMBS way up!!!

This TWO TRACKS Ambush Bow is in the mail on it's way to me right now. 50"--Birdseye Bocote/Sepele, Black Glass over Bamboo Limbs. I think she'll be just what I've been needing. I'll be back with a review when she gets here. It was an instock bow, and I spent some time on the phone with Chuck when I called to buy it. He's a great guy and knows his bows. I assured him I wouldn't hold his being from Michigan against him, and he graciously agreed to sell me the bow even though I'm from Ohio. Lol! (The old college football rivalry). I've been wanting a short bow to make shooting from a stand easier, and I will hunt from a blind when it gets cold now, as I won't have to spend hundreds on one of the big blinds. I will be able to use one of the TeePee blinds with a 50" bow.
