Gloves & Mittens.
« on: October 17, 2010, 12:16:00 AM »
I live up in SouthDakota where things get cold in a hurry mid bow season. I like to wear a mitten on my bow hand and keep my tab hand in a hand warmer pocket. I'm always looking for warmer gloves and mittens.  What brands do you all wear when on stand when temps begin to plumit?

Always looking for BobLee Long Bow or RCurve Limbs, 64" 40# to 50#.

I don't know the brand but I use the glove with the fingers cut off halfway up and the mitten cover that folds back. I use a tab also and it works great. I can put a hand warmer in the flip up mitten section and when I need to shoot just slide my my fingers out. Best of both worlds for me.

You bet magnus, the flip back mittens are the best I've tried also.It matters not if I use a tab or a glove,it still works.

I like the flip back mittens with hand warmers as well.

When it gets really cold (like late in the gun season here when I am still hunting from tree stands with my bow -- or hunting up north) I wear Filson fingerless wool gloves under a pair of camo gloves. Keeping the palm and back of my hand warmer seems to help a lot. I cut the ends of the fingers off of my right camo glove so I can shoot. Those Filson fingerless wool gloves are the best solution I have found.
I also like hand warmers in my pockets. Being able to warm my hand up with a hand warmer from time to time makes a big difference.

My Johnson wool mittens are the best I've found. They're like oven mitts. They just need a layer of goretex and a leather palm pad and they would be perfect.I wear my shooting glove right underneath and pop my fingers out when I need to shoot.

I like using a hand-warmer muff; with disposable handwarmers inside when it gets really cold.
I also  use a light-weight knit glove with gripper dots on my bow hand to keep the "feel" of the bow similar to what i've been used to all summer shooting.
