Alright guys it was quite the weekend. My friend and I went out Friday morning and sat in a nice pinch point between two CRP feilds and a finger than leads from a creek bottom up to corn. It didn't take long for Calvin (my friend) to give me the hand signal that a deer was on his way. As he manned the camera a tried to settle my nerves for what I expected to be a big doe or a nice buck. It happened to be neither it was a button buck. With over ten minutes of footage of him and a fifteen yard shot I could not pass up the opportunity to claim my first traditional harvest. I have shot many deer with my compound, and being only 21 years old I know alot of my friends get caught up in all the "amazing technology" that goes into today's bows. But releasing the arrow with my fingers across the shelf of my 60# fred bear super kodiak was unlike any archery kill I have ever experienced. For lack of better words it seemed intimate (i guess youd say)? It turned out to be a perfect shot (one that I have practiced over 400 times in the fast month my biggest fear is to wound a deer) I double lunged him and he only ran 20 yards before piling up. To say the least I was completely stoked! I had my first harvest on camera, and my first harvest with a recurve!
I would like to add a special thanks to doug77 of Tradgang. I posted a previous topic on arrow tuning and within a day he had reposted and invited calvin and i to come to his house and shoot to help us tune our arrows. He was extremely nice and knowledgable. He was even generous enough to go the extra mile and let me borrow four of his arrows that worked great for my bow, one of which I used to completely pass through my double lunged button buck. To say the least Tradgang as a community and all the members within the forums are first class and I thank everyone for all of your support.
PS as you can see Im very new to the forum so if someone could give me help on getting pictures from my hardrive to the forum I will post one of me and my dinner
