Oklahoma Mcaap hunt update
« on: October 18, 2010, 10:19:00 PM »
I hunted the deer creek area last weekend and had a great time.  Friday no deer sighted,  Saturday same stand 7:15am doe at six steps and a perfect shot produced my first traditional kill.  Hunted a different area that afternoon and got winded by 5 doe at 15 yards on the ground this time.  Sunday morning original stand 8:00am two small 8pts 12 yds but behind a blackjack oak so no shot.  Great hunt!!  If you are going next weekend look for the persimons as most of the deer killed were either feeding on them or moving between them and other areas.  I hunted deer creek area but the persimmons were the ticket everywhere.  If your going and have deer creek hit me up and I will try to help you out.

They aren't corn fed but there are a lot of them.  This was a traditional only draw hunt on a military base. They have only a 7 percent succes rate for the hunt as there is no pre scouting but of those killed about 20 percent are Pope and Young class, it is amazing what kind of big bucks are on this place.

Yes. Probably not Pike County deer but there plenty of deer in that area.

Send me a map and I'll check it out for you.     :)
