I always figured I could call in sick if I had to retrieve a deer left to lay overnight; never had to use the excuse, but whenever I was legitimately sick, my boss and coworkers always assumed it was for deer hunting and would bug me for free venison!  Now I work out of the home, and my schedule is even worse!  But only my wife bugs me for venison now.

Hunt public land often weekdays included 20 minutes from the house. Heat limited mostly which keeps animals still & lethargic. Lately seen too many scrapes. High today right at 90 degrees! C'mon cold weather!!

I hunt whenever I physically feel like it. Hunted every day since the opener..Oct. 1st..except yesterday. I had a Dr. appointment.

Most days I'll only hunt morning or evening. Today I will hunt evening.

My wife and I hunt most days, she's retired and I get off at 3 so we can go. As far as taking care of the meat we butcher our own and have 3 freezers(one converted to cooler).

I hunt every free minute, weekend and weekday! For some reason or another it's not enough. I do my own butchering so for me it's gut and hang and go to work.

Doing what I do at the Medical Examiners office I could probably bring it to work and do it.   :goldtooth:

I purposely have my days off during the week. I hunt public land. No crowds.

I hunt both. I cut my own deer and have taken as long as a week to cut a deer. I'll skin and pack quarters in a big cooler the day of harvest. Then bone cut wrap and freeze as time allows throughout the next few days.

All the time. I get off work at 3:30. Never during mornings though.

I work second shift, so I hunt about twice during the week.  Usually on Monday and Friday mornings.  I get off work at 10:30pm and can get home, shower and in bed by 12 easily.  Get back up at 5 or 6, hunt all morning, come home and shower then back to work.  I love this shift.

I hunt whenever I can, weekday or weekend. Weather and wind are a major factor to consider. If I have to be at work the next morning, I'd probably hunt in the morning, the day before, and then head for home.

Hunting weekdays is kinda cool. Less folks out there to mess things up for ya. Then again, you may be hunting alone. That has some good and bad points also. Bottom line is... If You Are Hunting, It's All Good!

Your point of getting meat ready for the freezer the night before a work day is always on my mind. When you think about it, that's where the "work starts" and the hunt ends. I'm always good for cutting a trip a bit short, not to "paint myself in a corner" because of the time issue.

When I worked outside the home I did it all the time unless I had something the next day I simply couldn't be late for.

It has been very rare in 45 years that I had to return the next morning to track a deer. Most shots have resulted in short blood trails or deer dropping in sight.  I can think of two such cases - one around 1988 and the other two years ago. The one in 1988 was still alive and required another shot.

Now I work out of the house so it is much easier. I prefer weekdays these day s.
