Finally Success
« on: October 22, 2010, 09:32:00 PM »

What a relief! After countless close incounters and frustrating mishaps I make a perfect shot with my predator. This is my first( hopefully not my last) traditional big game harvest. It seamed this day would never come. I shoot almost daily from the ground and my treestand and yet the shoulder blade has been my WORST enemy. Two black bears and two whitetail bucks have been shouldered by grizzly broadheads. But today brought new and exteme happiness. This is by far not the biggest buck I've taken, but it is definately the best!
Thanks to all the trad gang for all the help!

I forgot to mention I kind of cheated this poor guy. When I took the shot he was peeing in a mock scrape that I had doctored up with Smokey's preorbital gland lure and indigital gland lure! His twin brother had just finished working the scrape when he decided that he would give it the old college try. They walked right over my trail going to my stand and never had a clue. I used Smokey's female raccoon urine on my boots and I got to say they never lifted their heads when they crossed my path! Smokey gave me a great tip on how to apply the scent to my boots. Clear a spot on the ground about a hundred yards too your stand and sprinkle the urine on that spot, then work your boots around in that spot until you think you have good coverage to the bottoms and head to your stand. I haven't had a deer cut my trail since I started doing it.

That's a nice buck by anybody's standards!
And thanks for placing your bow in the pic so we all can look at it too!

Sorry, but I'm the kind of bow freak who looks at the bow first and the rack second.

Nice going! Thanks for posting a great photo!
