Huntmore 360 or Waldrop PacSeat ???
« on: October 26, 2010, 09:24:00 PM »
I'm looking for a comfortable, well built and portable seat that will last several seasons. I have read all the threads about both the Huntmore 360 and the Waldrop PacSeat and can't make up my mind as to which one will suit me the best.

First off, one thing that concerns me about the Waldrop PacSeat is that it sits so low to the ground. Most all of my bows are 64" and the longest one is 68".......the second thing is that it doesn't allow me to swivel without having to move forward and get on my knee to do so........which is much more movement than just rotating around into a shooting position.

I know that the Huntmore 360 has been out longer than the Waldrop has and thus there are more posts on it and its versatility. I have bought both my wife and myself a ghillie suit apiece and plan on hunting, most likely, exclusively from the ground this year. There isn't much difference in the price of these two seats and I plan to use it (them) for several years to come.

So..........therein lies the problem of which one will be the best all-around seat for comfort, quietness in set-up and movement while sitting in it, portability and longevity ???

Just looking for opinions from people that have tried either of them.......and even better if they own or have owned both. I realize the ultimate decision is up to ME.......but I value the opinions of my fellow Trad-Gangers, because you haven't lead me down the wrong path yet.

What say ye ???

IMO the Huntmore is by far the most comfortable seat I have ever used but if you are looking for packability this is one of its disadvantages. As for shooting out of the seat I would have to give that to the 360. The swivel is absolutely quite and move with ease.

I have a seat similar to the Waldrop and it is no where near as comfortable as the 360 but it is lighter and packs easier. Plus it is much easier to setup and take down if I am moving from spot to spot.

Both seats are quite and well constructed...figure I will wear out before they do.

Both seats are nice and have there plus and minuses. Let us know what you decide on and how it works out.

The ability to turn the seat and adjust legs on uneven ground has made it very enjoyable hunting on the ground for me with the Huntmore.

I'm watching and reading every word in this one.

I am sure hoping to read some genuine comparisons.

Thanks Winterhawk1960 for asking the question.

As you may know, I did a review on the Huntmore 360 last season (it's on this site somewhere). At first, I didn't think I'd like it but, man, was I wrong! If you get one, it will be the last stool you will buy because these things are built like a tank! They are comfortable, silent, and the ability to adjust the legs is a huge selling point for me. Lastly, the customer service you get from Scott, the inventor, is superb. If you have a problem, go to him and he will make it right. Just my 2 cents.

Don,

I've got the Huntmore 360, but know nothing about the PacSeat.

I really enjoy my 360.

As you know, I'm 6'4"... and my hunting bows either 64 or 66" in length.  No problem there.

In short... comfort!

The Huntmore is a great chair, but way too heavy and cumbersome for me.  If you want to be mobile, the Huntmore is not a good choice.  It is awkward and too heavy to pack around.  Would work great in a pop up if you have one you can set up and leave.  I haven't tried the Waldrop but can tell just by looking that it would not suit me--too low to the ground and looks like it leans you back too far.  SO...I'm back to my little Nifty seat for now--not real comfy but suits my style better.

I have BOTH...and can tell you you CANNOT compare the two.  They are apples and oranges.....might as well say what Chris Surtees said....just re-read his post.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages....One is not better than the other in all circumstances.

Its like saying whats the best screwdriver...phillips or flathead?....

Neither,....depends on the screw.

Same as with Broadheads....one is not best suited for all game.

I`ve used the Waldrop seat a bit this week and can say it is very comfy. Packs good and no complaints from me. It sets up fast and most anywhere. I like it. The Huntmore I have never used but it looks good and I can see where the swivel would be an advantage.I would say either would be a good choice and either could be wrong or right for a given setup.RC

Also....I keep hearing this on every thread about the Waldrop seat..'it seems to lean too far back'.

If you will read about the seat from the web page by the maker, you will learn more about it...and this comment about too far back is false.  YOU create the angle you want by leaning it how YOU want to against a tree.....AND, the angle is also adjustable if you use the pull out rear legs.

David has been working on the Waldrop seat design for nearly 15 years. So while it's not been on the market very long, it has been thoroughly researched amnd improved. I still have one of his prototypes.
Advantages to me; portability. Wears like a light packframe and allows you to carry it anywhere in the swamp.

I also have the Huntmore seat. Although I haven't really given it a workout yet, it sits very well and the swivel is nice. I DON'T like having to pack it into a bag and carry it over my shoulder.

Right now I use the HUntmore for turkey blinds and more permanant set-ups, and my Waldrop seat for roaming the swamps and elk haunts.

Huntmore  has my vote cause of Back Surgery issues and the Swivel option...Sturdy and built like a tank cause it's holding a tank...A new guy to traditional came over my house the other day and I believe he told me he weighs over 300  pounds and he was sitting in my 360 while I worked on his strings and the legs on the Huntmore never knew this "Giant" was even there...The Huntmore 360 may turn 360 degrees but I'll bet mine it will hold 360# and more...If you buy one check out Kustom King one of the Sponsors here and I know they are $199.99 everywhere you look but read Kustum Kings website offer and get 5% off your web order...It will Save a few $$$...

I got to meet a really nice person today and a fellow tradgang member, non-typical.

non-typical was nice enough to pack his Waldrop chair in his truck and haul it with him to his work just so when I came by I could see it and actually get a chance to sit in it.

Thank you Tom!

As far as the Waldrop is concerned, I was impressed.

I have a Huntmore, so I can talk about it.  I don't have a waldrop, but if someone was to send me one, I would love to try it and then write about it, then send it back.

The Huntmore at first was not for me.  I then met the inventor, and he showed me how they can be adjusted to fit any height, and arse shape.  I sat in mine 7 hours straight last Saturday, and the only thing that was complaining was my stomach, because I needed to leave to eat.  I had trouble with the chair making noise, so I contacted Scott (Inventor) and he told me how to clean it, and lube it.  Once I did that, it was completely silent.  Easily packable, it isn't, but it is the most comfortable hunting chair I have ever sat in.  If you are a blind hunter, this is the chair for you.  I left my chair out all weekend, even in the rain, and then sat in it for extended periods of time, and still quiet and comfortable.  I'm very happy with my purchase.

I sure would like to try one of those Waldrop chairs...hint,hint  ;)
