Good luck to all who are attending Shrewhaven...ughhhhh I mean ShrewHeaven this year. May your arrows fly true and hope everyone has a great time.

Tim, you best be glad that I am a lefty like Ron or that one would be coming to TN, not MI, haha !!!

Please give us updates when you can and don't leave us all hangin by our toenails wondering what is going on up there at Armstrong Creek in the coming days.

Ron, strings are awesome and the large  Longhunter shirt fits Mason like a glove.... for now that is, haha ! Looks like I will need a XL for my fat butt. Large was a little tight with only a t shirt underneath in the shoulders and it is a little long too. Good luck this week !

Long in the body or long in the sleeves?  They don't come any shorter, the sleeves are tapered and can be rolled in a cuff but the bottom is supposed to come down over the hips and butt.

I think there will be a   Armstrong Ghost bow in left hand in my house before long...    :bigsmyl:

Great looking bow Ron. Shrewhaven looks like the place to be. Please post stories and pictures so that we can also enjoy the experience. God Bless and good luck to all.   :campfire:

We sure will Bill. We always have some interesting adventures at ShrewHaven.

Jimmy, I've been looking into material for the Longhunter shirts and have come up with this option for folks with a generous girth but are vertically challenged.....Spandex!

How lucky we are to have Mr. LaClair as one of ours.

That there is funny Ron, don't care who you are, haha !!!

It was long in both the sleeves and the body Ron, but then again anything that fits me in the shoulders and gut usually is long in the sleeves and body. I will order a XL and then get the tail and sleeves tailored a tad by my local dry cleaner lady. She cut off and hemmed some Columbia pants for me last year and did a great job. Supposed to be 30 in the AM and Mason is wearing his Longhunter for the first time so he will find out how he likes it. Supposed to have a 12MPh N wind too.

Oh yeah Ron, I know it is supposed to come down on your hips and butt to help keep you warm but it is not supposed to look like a dress either, haha ! I will probably have my seamstress take 3" off the bottom of mine when I order it so no one makes a crack about my dress and I have to crack them in the head with my bow limb.

This is Roger on Rons computer. I pulled in here tonight to load my gear for the morning trip to Shrewhaven. Ron had a baked potatoe and a T-bone waiting when I pulled in....

I shot the Ghost! AWESOME! I put about 30 arrows through it, it sure spits an arrow. Dead quiet, and it shoots where I'm looking. I'm going to kill a deer with this bow sometime in the next week. Ron doesn't know it yet, but he might not get this bow back. Stay tuned!!!

I'm up and the coffee is done. I'm gonna let Roger sleep a bit more, he has a long drive ahead of him..     :)     I had a hard time going to sleep, my mind kept working trying to remember if I had everything packed. When I'd think of something I forgot I'd turn on the light and write it on the list on the night stand. I remembered that the "Armstrong Ghost" bow wasn't in the truck, it was still hanging in the back room of the shop where we left it when Roger was done shooting last night, wqe sure don't wanna forget that bow..    :wavey:

Nestled in a secluded valley, far off the beaten path, on the banks a of a small stream, is a little cabin called Shrew Haven.  Originally built in 1936, this rustic pine cabin was moved to it's current location in 2000.

The original intent was just to have a hunting camp, a place to hang your hat and bow.  But Shrew Haven has become more than that... much more.  Shrew Haven has revealed itself an enchanting environment, where the bow hunting experience is enhanced ten fold. It is a place of peace and tranquility; a place where a person can recharge their spirit, feed their soul, and share wonderful times with fellow bow hunters.

In today's modern world we have created for ourselves an unnatural environment; but God created man to be part of nature. And although we may survive in our big city's and urban neighborhoods, we need the wilderness to help keep us mentally healthy.

Shrew Haven is an Oasis, where we must return as often as we can, to drink deep of it's healing waters, and thus be sustained 'til we come to this place again.

And the waiting goes on...,with the anticipation.
It's a little bit like being there, waiting for that almost perfect shot, waiting to find out how everyone else did. Guess that we will find out soon.

First report is that they're seeing more bucks up at Shrewhaven this year (there's a 6 point or better rule on bucks, so most that don't wander off the property get to see a second year). Tom "Red Bandana" Jenkins is in the crowd this year (taking my spot).  Tom is a long time friend of Ron's and Ron used to hunt with Tom's gang in a camp in the lower peninsula of MI. I think subconciously, Ron wanted to have a similar band of traditional hunters in a camp in the upper peninsula. Anyway, Tom will keep the gang entertained with his funny story telling long after the first snore is heard from the bunk room (that would usually be Greg).

Ray,
Thanks for keeping us posted. Looking forward to pics and meat pole that is full. When I spoke with Ron last week while ordering a shirt and strings he told me that yes, Wolves had been spotted at ShrewHaven. Hopefully, they have moved on and will not affect hunting.
