Appreciation of this site.
« on: October 28, 2010, 12:44:00 AM »
I just have to say something about tradgang and its members. I've been on the other sites lately and I can really feel a lot of animosity and sarcasiam from several members. My hat is off to the members and moderators for keeping this site great. Knowing this is not the first time its been said, I had to thank everyone again for making it so enjoyable. Sarcasm can be done in a humorous manner, which may be lost on the intended recipient or others.

That doesn't mean there was any malice in it, or that the writer is at any fault.

A good wordsmith, if honked off, will put forth such comments, leaving the audience forever guessing as to intent.

If we as posters took personal responsibility for how our words would affect every other member/reader we would temper our words with care.

I will say that I know that I have hurt others with some of my posts(not intentionally) but it happened and I am very sorry for it.

Please remember that if I ever offend you please contact me and give me a chance to apologize and ask for forgiveness.

This site is head and shoulders above any of the other sites when it comes to concern and caring for others.

The mods and admins recently cleaned up a thread that got out of hand.

I echo your kudos hitman.

I agree with everything said up to now. This is a great site with excellent management. It's up to us to do our part by being positive and "treating others like we would like to be treated".

It's easy to get carried away and say something that can be taken wrong by someone else. We might should take more time and measure our words before hitting the "Add Reply" tab.

It's not a bad idea to say nothing if you have nothing positive to say.

I started out visiting another traditional archery site years ago. I was always disappointed in the vicious attacks on anyone who offered an opposing point of view.

Then I found Tradgang! It was like coming home. I've made many friends here, most of whom I have never met. I was concerned at first when our numbers began to swell to 20,000 and beyond that we might lose what made this site great, but it seems to have simply been reinforced. A great deal of credit certainly must go to our moderators who do an outstanding job. I'd also like to commend our members, most of whom make the moderators job easier by showing respect to others.

Thanks, Gang!

Trad Gang is my favorite trad site on the internet. The people here are friendly, polite to each other, give out great info and there's lots of posting traffic everyday. In essence, I feel "comfy" being here.

Yup-best folks around.  People here are respectful, helpful, and generous beyond measure.  I've gained more here in knowledge and help than I could have imagined.

Thats why Im here...........and not "there" anymore. This place is relaxing and informative, not rude and smart butt'ish. Im starting to recognize several handles from my old trad. archery site that either post here as well, or made a permanent move as I did. Tradgang is A-1 in my book!

I read a thread on "that other" site this morning that had me shaking my head over how darn rude people are over there.

People can and do say things on an internet site with impunity that they would never say to a person's face.

However, I can honestly say that I've never seen that kind of behaviour on TG. It's like we're all sitting around the same camp fire. Proud to be a part of it.

I for one think that many a reader of posts can help keep things mellow if they:

1. Work on developing better reading comprehension

2. For the sake of NO ARGUMENT, if they don't know the writer's intent, assume they didn't mean to offend (readers tend to go on the attack after feeling they or somebody else has been put on the defensive- and most times it is they who are in error (see Item #1).

Typos, misreading..........if somebody has an issue with something written, ASK for clarification, openly or in PM- and don't be an arse about it.

Sure we come from all sorts of educational, professional and cultural backgrounds, and not everybody understands the language as well as others.

But their lacking should be no basis for complaint.

Do we as writers of posts, have to repeatedly put disclaimers in  our stuff, write for those of a 6th grade education?

Yeah I've heard it before, "remember your audience". Hmmmmmm, not all of the readers post replies.

And some folks have different tastes in humor.

I say this because I catch a lot of flack on other forums, and a few darling dimwits there have tried to stir up trouble. On a few I left and out of the woodwork came the complaints- guess I had more fans than enemies.

Enemies.

If you watch what you say, comment only on that which you know, do so in clever or humorous fashion.........well some insecure types are gonna take offense. If you win all debates.....more of the same.

Being smart, talking about only which you know...........yes, on some forums that kind of behavior has been openly called "cheating".

And with that, you know why we have the President we do now. America, even in the bowhunting ranks, is predominately stupid.

I don't write for them, could care less, am a big boy and can take the heat (they bring a match, I bring an ICBM).

I HATE politically correct stuff and do get a little upset with the calls for "play nice" and all the disclaimer stuff people put out.

How dare they!

READERS have the responsibility to remain calm, read clearly what has been written, take no offense to it unless it is proven to be in malice.

Chips on their shoulders, no brains in their heads.............I don't think those types of folks should dictate how others write.

And yes, this is a major peeve of mine.

Heck, when you spell it out again and again, what you said or wrote, some people still won't get it, will find fault with stuff that is indeed flawless.

I think all of those folks you're talking about must be over on another site because I've been on here since... well my member number is 184 and I don't think I've run onto any of those types here at Tradgang.

Thanks for letting me know the things to avoid though.

This place has been OK.

IMHO a little boring at times, due to the nature of the rules.

Oh well, it's all spelled out at the top.

Tradgang is in my opinion head and shoulders above the other traditional bow sites.

I truly appreciate that!!!

I don't need the drama or stimulation but we are all different and I can appreciate that as well.

I've said it before "People don't care how much you know if they don't know how much you care." Well maybe I haven't met enough TG'ers but of the ones I have met.. they have proven out to be just as nice in person as they come off being in their posts on here. I've yet to be disappointed.

Thank you Tradgang and members!!! God bless each and every one of you today.
