Michigan-Bowhunter Dies From Treestand Fall

A terrible reminder that any of you guys getting up into treestands needs to extra careful out there.

By the sounds of it, he must have fallen before clipping the harnesss to the tree strap.

So sad to hear.

I fell from a tree back in 2001, due to my own stupidity, and broke my ankle a half mile from my truck, and 3 1/2 hrs from home.  I was hunting alone, and figured I didn't need my girlfriend's, now wife, cell phone even after her coaxing.  I am now a ground hunter, and don't see myself going into trees ever again.  I was lucky, it could have been so much worse.

Please everyone who hunts from a tree stand get a good harnes and a safetyline that you stay attached to the whole time from the ground up they may cost a little but it is cheaper than your life!!!!

If you are using a portable stand or climber keep attached either using your harness and sliding the belt around the tree up as you go up or a climber's belt or rope even when using steps. Better to go a little slower than the slow down for good.
TGMM-Family of the Bow

The quest to improve is so focused on a few design aspects & compensating for hunter ineptness as to actually have reduced a bow & arrow’s effectiveness. Nothing better demonstrates this than mech. BHs & speed fixated designs
