yesterday i was sitting in my tree stand, getting eatin alive by skeeters, and was thinking about the events i participated in this season thus far.about a month ago we had a bad 4 day off and on rain storm, i hunted 3 of those days.i saw alot of deer. i had taken shots at 2 different does but never connected. i was lucky enough to get within 15 yrs of each but i blew the shot both times. no excuses it was all me not the equip.about 2 weeks later i was in my stand and had a shot op on a lone 6 point.he was less than 20 yrds, i shot low and grazed his chest, got a little blood and hair in the fletching of my arrow,on that one.this past saturday, i had a bunch of first's for me. first time i was able to use my climber for a morning hunt with zero noise getting in the tree "yeah" .it was 35 degrees that morning and the deer were movin. about 8:30 i witnessed for the first time a buck chasin a doe. it lasted all of 5 second , they were in and out that fast, i never even got the chance to stand up in the stand. wow how cool was that! about 10:00 a.m. , something told me to stand up and look behind me. about 30 yrds out i could make out 5 does feeding and milling about in some thick stuff. i watched them for about 45 min. they never came close enogh for a shot op, but they did look my direction. they never spooked, they just eased off in the opposite direction. was i busted or not ,i will never know. any how my point is, i have come to the conclusion that if i didnt harvest a deer this year itwouldnt be so bad eating tag soup. ive seen more deer this yr than i have in the past nine yrs.i know nobody wants tag soup. but so far ive been pretty happy with what ive accomplished in the woods. would my fellow trad gangers consider my season a success so far? what are your thoughts and opinions? my season is not over yet, just taking some pressure off myself to make a kill. thanks for wonderful season so far, and i hope everyone does well this year . i think im feelin pretty happy so far, ruddy
