Crappy Question
« on: November 01, 2010, 11:18:00 AM »
This morning I was being responsible and using the bathroom before heading to the woods.

Wouldnt you know it I no sooner get up the treestand and the "Urge" hits. I thought about trying to hold back for the morning and realized I better get down and take care of business.  I no sooner get to the ground and I had no option, it was now or mess. So in the nick of time I dropped trou and you know, pooped.

Does going #2 by your stand alert deer?  Have you had deer just ignore it? How many days would you give before going back?
Relax,

You'll live longer!

LOL!  Can't do too much when nature calls, huh?  I (you) should at least dig a hole and bury it, maybe.  That's what I have done in the past and waited about a week before returning.  With the heavy rain we have had, it should clear up fairly soon.  I have had people tell me it ruins a stand for the season, but I don't agree.  Let things cool off for a week.

Carry cover scent, then sprinkle with Tinks Doe in heat.  Never stopped the Doe's from still coming in.

Coffee doesn't look so good on my monitor...lol

I couldn't help but laugh because as they say... "Been there, done that!"..hahaha!!!!!!!

I have noticed anything being bothered by it but me...lol

The only other thought is whatever you do, don't let your dog walk around in that area because if they don't eat it, they'll roll in it and that's way bad especially when they get it all over and under their collar.

My stomach rolls with just the memories....lol

BTDT..........took a nice 9 pt the next day.

Wondered if my contribution was still where I left it.

Not a trace.

2nd hand booze and Mexican food must be a 'possum favorite.

Carry a two dollar 6 oz plastic trowel they sell at outdoor stores.

Dig a hole -the deeper mossier/leafier/ more dirt the better, to absorb odor.

Its easy its fast, the trowel is small and WAY better than a stick.

Do your thing and cover it up- At least its not a pile under a few leaves sitting on the top like a big 'ol scent wick.

Joshua, who once wondered why he didn't go with a trowel a lot sooner and will never go back to being without one.

Years ago I had an attack that couldn't wait a second. No time to climb down so I dropped my drawers and hung my skinny butt off of my Baker Mighty Might. Distance was phenomenal. As I stood there wondering what to do next a fat doe walks by at 10 yards . I stood there pants around my ankles, fumbling through my fanny pack and watched her walk off. I moved the stand.

Charlie,

That ALMOST happend to me this morining to. In fact It was a good thing I had the wind in my favor, casue I was passing gas for a good bit.   :o   I made it back to my house in time though. Funny you should bring this up, as I was going to ask the same question here.

In the past, I would just bury it as soon as I could and still saw deer in the area.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" Isaiah 6:8

We call it "laying a bear trap" around here, never caught a bear in one yet though. I had to finish wiping before I could shoot my last elk with a compound. The next season after laying a bear trap I had a bull and two cows come into 30 yards. If my bow had not still been on the ground(from laying a trap) I might have got a shoot. I now get funny looks when I use a deer grunt to call for elk lol....    I don't know how much it scares away deer but I think it might be helping my elk hunting.

I'm kinda public bathroom phobic, but laying a "bear trap" outdoors doesn't bother me a bit.

Having said that, I only "trap" once every 5 or 6 yrs (usually don't have any urges, or if so, make it home with plenty of time to spare).

Well, it does bother me a little bit during deer season, having a white butt.

Lots of crazies out there, be a shame to take a slug and die before I was finished.

And just think of the forensic photos!

I carry 2 wide mouth zip locks just for that purpose.... because the way my sometimers acts up, I might forget where I left it the next day.

Had it bad when stalking a huge ten pointer, I just had to with the buck 200 yards up the hill.  NO TP!! so I cut off my longjohns from the knees down, buck still there, then a chunk off my tee shirt, good enough, buck still there.  Resumed my plan of heading off the buck at the next ravine.  Tripped over a half buried wire, buck gone.

You weren't wearing bibs were you ?  I HATE when that happens.  You had me worried there. .  I thought you were gonna tell us you didn't have time to get down and just let er fly from the five meter board !

I am thiking that a squirt of some doe in heat lure will confuse the issue enough.

You are in the unique position of having a post educational science project at hand.  Please report back how it went.

I like a fallen tree with one trunk section on the ground, one parallel but higher and somewhat back, makes for a bit of a reclined position.

No worry about dropping a steamer over the wasteband of your pants that way.

Sometimes you can find a fallen tree that's up a ways off the ground, wander out, drop 'em and assume the position, pretend you're a B29.
