Memorial Service for Glenn St. Charles
« on: November 02, 2010, 12:32:00 PM »
On Monday afternoon, November 1, 2010, a memorial service for Glenn was held at a community center not far from his original Northwest Archery shop, just a few miles south of Seattle, Washington.  This service was more of a celebration of Glenn’s life and accomplishments with his entire family attending along with several of Glenn’s friends and acquaintances.

Brad Owen,   Washington’s Lieutenant Governor and a hunter-outdoorsman, was the Master of Ceremonies.  Mr. Owen recounted his first meeting with Glenn at Northwest Archery when he was just a teen wanting to learn to shoot the bow.  He told us that Glenn just gave him a bow and told him to pay him whenever he could.  Of course, Glenn had no idea that this future bowhunter would eventually get into politics.

In the next two hours or so, several of Glenn’s friends and hunting partners came forward to relate numerous stories about Glenn.  Some of these tales were humorous while others demonstrated his kindness and generosity and love of hunting with the bow.

On tables throughout the center were numerous photos and memorabilia covering Glenn’s 98 years.  It was a marvelous event that celebrated the life of one of archery’s greatest who has done so much to establish bowhunting for all of us and future generations.

The measure of greatness is how a man's testimony reaches out and effects others in an unselfish and positive way even after is he gone from this world....Glenn St.Charles is such a man.

I never personally met the man but I felt like I knew him, what an effect he has had on my hunting choices.

I was fortunate enough to be hotel room-mates of sorts with Mr. Glenn in Springfield, Mo a few years ago.  I am very thankful and very much enjoyed the time I got to spend with him.  But of all of his accomplishments and all the things he did for us as bowhunters the biggest impression he left me was how he was a geniune and down to earth gentleman.

He will be missed.
